I am normally smart enough to stay out of my local Costco store on a Saturday afternoon. But yesterday I was out of my allergy meds, planning a visit to my crazy-sweet-cat-lady sister-in-law today and having a real cat allergy (insert sad face here) - I committed an unforced error: I decided to pick up a few additional items while I was there. The whole experience was worse than I imagined. The icy parking lot was a nightmare, I had to stalk someone to get a parking spot. Shopping cart availability was limited to a bring-your-own-in-from-the-freezing-cold-parking-lot and the aisles were a maze and buzz of third world anarchy. Literally.
They were jammed with people who were clearly not born anywhere around here and by here I mean the United States. They were driving their shopping carts around in circles, ramming into others as they darted to and fro, speaking in tongues and otherwise creating shopping gridlock.

Of course Ive seen non-native born shoppers here before, but they seem to own Saturdays. I know my virtue signaling betters will be quick to call me racist for this, but in my judgement the Hindi woman wearing a very lightweight sari covered only with an equally lightweight rain jacket and wearing flip flops on an afternoon that peaked at 16 degrees was not from around here. Nor was the hijab-clad woman with 5 kids all speaking an unintelligible language.
So I did the math (my white privilege) while waiting in the checkout lines solely on the basis of profiling. Using nothing more than my powers of observation I determined that 31% appeared to be either black or white native born Americans. The remaining 69% appeared (and sounded) to be from some place far, far away. Mind you, Im not drawing any conclusion about the legal status, citizenship, virtue or lack thereof - of of this huddling mass of humanity. Im simply stating what is glaringly apparent to anyone paying attention: in my white suburban neighborhood the majority of shoppers on this Saturday afternoon in January, 2018 were most assuredly foreign-born. And oddly enough none none mind you appeared to be from south of the border. These new immigrant Americans were predominantly Indians, Pakistanis, Asians and too-numerous-to-mention Middle East countries. All here, I presume, to do jobs that Americans wont do.
Costco: where whole pigs reside peacefully next to halal ducks
And that, my friends, is why Donald J. Trump is president.
I once worked with a lawyer who, when he thought we were offering to give away more than we needed to in a business deal would remind us that while our contract terms needed to be legal and ethical in every respect, we were not a church. Some goes for our country, we are not a church; we cannot save the whole world. Acting as if we can do all of Gods work is pure hubris.

We actually have fun doing it.
I hate local shopping and use the internet for what I would buy for less and less hassle.
We have two vehicles, two boats and two kayaks, we have licenses and 3 boat trailers.
I renew all licenses of the above on line for the same cost.
Our DMV is fairly well run, however, at times when renewing my driver’s license and having to go there, I have been the only English speaking and white guy there.
I had to go to my local SS office after my husband died. Luckily, I had an appointment. That office looked like the bar scene from Star Wars. I got in and out in less than an hour, and I hope I never have to go back! BTW — the people waiting when I got there were still waiting when I left.
My Costco and Sams Club are within blocks of each other. Costco is always teeming with people and Sams is usually pretty empty. Sadly, our Sams is closing. I need two new knees and walk with a cane right now. I will go as soon as each opens to get a close parking place and am out within 20-30 minutes at Costco. I would never dream of getting Costco gas.....lines 4-5 deep at every pump. I shop at both, but always get my gas at Sams as I never have to wait. Went by there yesterday and the gas station is closing, too. My observations on both stores is the languages spoken are English and Spanish. But then, we live in the southwest. Trump really needs to sort out the voter fraud and quickly! We wont give up the country without a fight!
We are several towns over but, yes, Iselin and Edison have not only Indians but middle-easterners, Vietnamese, Chinese and Koreans. The upside is that we have wonderful ethnic grocery stores and I just found a storefront that sells amazing banh mi’s.
My house is up for sale - we hate this place. We have a Sikh agent. Amazingly neat, natty and nice. Nothing like the slovenly people you see at Costco.
Going to Costco in the afternoon is a nightmare. I do understand that you had to fill a prescription; but, it is a nightmare.
Last week I was at a normal grocery store. I turned down an aisle for an item I needed and there was a tall black man with a backpack emptying cans from the shelf into the backpack. Didn't seem to care if anyone saw him or not. I believe the cans were chili and stew, stuff like that.
I grabbed the cans I needed and walked quickly away -- all the while thinking that this is why grocery prices are so high.
Sounds like my daughter’s apartment complex, in a midwestern suburb. However, most seem Indian and have only a couple of kids. My guess is that many work in medical fields because the men wear scrubs. Her greatest complaint is that they cook curry all day and it stinks up her apartment as well. They stay inside their apartments and don’t have large animals nor party late into the night with low-life friends.
Where have you been for the last two decades?
One does not have to "go" to the SS office to sign up for benefits.
I signed up in 5 minutes on the internet and received a confirmation phone call from a SS clerk the very next day.
That was the last time I ever had to "deal" with the SS office.
Having said that, the biggest problems with SS are not the retired workers who want some of their money back after paying into the system for years while they were working.
It is the frauds and phonies who are draining the system dry because of the ease with which the government awards SS disabily benefits to those who don't deserve it.
What’s a costco?
Wife and I noticed about a third of people at our local YMCA are middleastern. Why are they at a Christian institution?
None of the foreigners at the Y see me, apparently. They all walk right in your path staring at their phones. I’m 6’3”, 250, not easy to miss. It’s going to get ugly one of these days.
Funny, I shop at Sam’s...always CIVILIZED and pretty much the same selection.
Bingo!
I didn't know that about the owner of Costco.
Since the Sam's here in town is closing, some people have suggested Costco, but it's far enough away from where i live that I had never seriously considered it. I won't for sure now.
That said, same thing About Sam's club. English is NOT the native language of most of those people I see there.
And the other day when there was the announcement that Sam's was closing and everything was discounted, You could not get NEAR the place.
What a ZOO! I've NEVER seen the parking lot that packed. Ever. Not even for Christmas.
if its just money don’t shop there....let them know but the absence of your moola....
American Catholics/Mormons used to have 6-8 kids....Americans don’t breed anymore...
Income tax and SS tax and all the other taxes we are required to pay is to me an IMPLIED contract..
you pay/you can expect so and so...
you pay SS and Medicare taxes and you can expect a living SS and Medicare payback....
but no...
we older white working Americans are told almost daily that there is a shortfall, you have to work longer, your Medicare will only cover this, etc....
THE ILLEGAL PROBLEM IS A FINANCIAL PROBLEM TO THOSE OF US WHO HAVE PAID AND PAID ALL OUR LIVES...
they come in here, and they immediately claim their 62 and don't have a BC..."lost" in the old country...
they're kids are hyperactive...their husbands alcoholic...
wing bang there goes our SS and Medicare taxes..
