Why Henry Repeating Arms are Awesome Rifles
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 1/11/2018 | J Hines

Henry Repeating Arms have had a dip in popularity and sales from 2014 to 2016. But since last January (2017) the sales and popularity is up at plus or minus 100%. (source: Google Trends)
One big popular rifle among cowboys and hunters is the Henry Repeating in 44 magnum. So why is it that its such an awesome rifle?
Here's some reason why:

Its Accurate
Straight out of the box with 44 mag loads you can zero in at 100 yards with 3-inch groups, if you’re a decent shot on a stable platform.

Slick Operation
In other words the rifle is quick and slick, everything on it when working the lever is just smooth. Quick when working the lever for the next round.

Low Recoil
To reduce the recoil on the 44 magnum Henry Repeating Arms incorporates the heavy octagon barrel, weighted forward balance and wide buttplate mitigates the recoil. See the rest of Henry repeating Arms rifles here. Anyone own a Henry?

That looks like “I hate the barrel of my rifle”.

The lack of a loading gate (Nelson King style) keeps some guys from purchasing Henry repeaters. While I don’t mind the tube loading/unloading feature, many think it’s a step backwards from the improvements that were made in the Winchester Model ‘66.

Is that video speeded up or is the guy really shooting a lever action that fast? If he is, I guarantee he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn shooting that fast.

I’ve got a .22 and after break-in it’s smooth as silk.

I’m still considering a .357.

The dude is shooting a short stroked Winchester ‘73 clone.

Deuce Stevens can run 10 rounds out of a Marlin 1894 in 1.7 seconds.

Got a .22 Henry lever action for my son’s 13th birthday. We both love it!

Seen him shoot, and can hit torso sized targets out to 15-20 yards.

I remember when they first came out with their first model, a .22 lever action. I had not seen one but it’s design looked suspiciously like the German Erma lever action.

I don’t know much about the company but have read that they treat their employees really well.

Probably the beautiful finish plus they work is the most important reason for their success.

I should add the shooting 44 special rounds are great for practicing. Recoil is almost like a 22, and it’s easier on these old ears...

"Seen him shoot, and can hit torso sized targets out to 15-20 yards."

That's not very impressive. I can do that with 38 snub nose revolver. And he probably can't even do that with the barrel bouncing the way it was in that video.

IN my post above I was referring to the video included with this thread, not the video at the link you posted.

And I always thought Chuck Connors was fast. At least this guy is on the range. Nobody knows what Chuck was spraying at. Maybe Chuck was blasting the North Fork Starbucks for putting regular old cow’s milk in his Grande, Iced, Sugar-Free, Vanilla Latte With Soy Milk.

“...the sales and popularity is up at plus or minus 100%.”

The Sales VP is going to be mighty PO’d at his head of Sales Operations for that variability is that sales estimate. That’s a wider hi/lo range than is usually acceptable.

Shooting steel, you can hear the hits. 10 rifle, 10 single action revolver, and 6 shotgun. Plenty fast. Misses cost 5 seconds.
