I have been reading of the troubled situation with would be "refugees" by the Australian authorities. A great idea, was that first there would be a holding camp on Christmas Island. Facilities were provided and mostly men aged 18 to 40 years were to wait for processing. Months and months wait time. Also an Island called Manus, was leased for another holding camp.
This prevented a sudden influx that would overwhelm local structures. Immediately the usual Australian suspects came out of the wood work. Crying about the inhumanity of it all. Carrying placards about a free and welcoming Australia. Serious riots broke out at one camp by these men. A free ride penned up away from the delights of urban living was what they wanted.
