‘The Post,” the new movie starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, is three things: a film about the Pentagon Papers, classified documents about the Vietnam War that were leaked to the media in 1971, a film about the press and Donald Trump, and, finally, an indictment about Harvey Weinstein and sexism in Hollywood.
According to Streep, who is interviewed on December 14 in the Washington Post, the film is mostly about sexism. Streep says that the new film came from a place of “grievance” about sexism.
“People were really scared and demoralized [after Trump was elected],” Streep told the Post. But her passion for the film came from a different place. “The passion, honestly, that I had wasn’t political on that end,” Streep said. “It was political on the feminist end. I wish that my citizen heart beat harder than the one that feels the grievance, but that’s the way it goes.”
Still, for openly liberal Streep, the political component is too strong to totally ignore. Hornaday reports that “Streep recalled the days immediately after the election when, alarmed by reports of possible Russian hacking, she got together with Robert De Niro, producer Jane Rosenthal and others (including a former FBI agent) to discuss their anxieties.”
Hornaday concludes: “What Spielberg might have intended as a reminder of the principles of a free press standing firm in the face of a paranoid and hostile presidency has, perhaps more meaningfully, become a portrait of a woman born into privilege, but still having to battle systemic sexism, the condescension of her male colleagues and her own internalized self-doubt to come into her own as a corporate leader and journalist.”
Sounds like “The Sarah Palin Story.”

Hollywood (Disney, too). . .nothing more than a bastion of perversion influencing the young and misguided in our country and actually throughout the world. As in the days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah . . .
What I wouldn’t give for the chance to bitch-slap the smug sh!t-eating smirk of her botox-laced face.
Streep throat...
To use a popular, decades-old, hollowwood meme, imagine overacting Shatner as Captain Kirk delivering this line: “Death..........to hollywood!”
The current net worth of this self-proclaimed victim of sexism is reportedly $90 Million.
Yeah, and now apparently it’s a requirement to have liberal loon Morgan Freeman in every dam_ movie. How many paydays has he gotten from the diversity requirement? It has to at least be in the 8 figures by now.
Here’s a bit about Hanks from Wikipedia today:
—
Hanks supports same-sex marriage, environmental causes, and alternative fuels. He has donated to many Democratic politicians, and during the 2008 United States presidential election uploaded a video to his MySpace account endorsing Barack Obama.[106] He also narrated a 2012 documentary, The Road We’ve Traveled, created by Obama for America.[107] In 2016, Hanks endorsed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.[108]
Hanks was outspoken about his opposition to the 2008 Proposition 8, an amendment to the California constitution that defined marriage as a union only between a man and a woman. Hanks and others raised over US$44 million to campaign against the proposition, in contrast to the supporters’ $39 million,[109] but Proposition 8 passed with 52% of the vote.[110] It was overruled in June 2013, when the Ninth Circuit lifted its stay of the district court’s ruling, enabling Governor Jerry Brown to order same-sex marriage officiations to resume.[111] While premiering a TV series in January 2009, Hanks called supporters of Proposition 8 “un-American” and criticized the LDS Church members, who were major proponents of the bill, for their views on marriage and role in supporting the bill.[112][113] About a week later, he apologized for the remark, saying that nothing is more American than voting one’s conscience.[114]
A proponent of environmentalism, Hanks is an investor in electric vehicles and owns a Toyota RAV4 EV and the first production AC Propulsion eBox. He was a lessee of an EV1 before it was recalled, as chronicled in the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car?[115] He was on the waiting list for an Aptera 2 Series.[116]

Just saying.
He could be involved in politics next time around.
Reliable, steady democrat.
Most the younger demographic don’t care about newspapers, not even the Washington Post. Watergate may seem as long ago as The Teapot Dome bribery scandal of 1921.
If this movie is not a big hit (highly likely), watch for Hanks and Streep to blame the Deplorables for ignoring her grand performance and not opening their wallets more.
All vastly overrated.
De Niro and Streep each made one movie that I actually enjoyed.
Hanks maybe made three that I liked.
Streep you lying beotch.Didnt you call Weinstein ‘god’?
Streep is a shameless liar.
Within the last year she gave a standing ovation for child rapist Roman Polanski.
At the same event, Jack Nicholson stood and applauded right next to Streep, even though Polanski raped the young woman at Nicholson's home, and the L.A. Police briefly investigated Nicholson as an accomplice.
In 1979, Streep gave an interview to Time Magazine, which I clearly recall reading, in which Streep stated that Dustin Hoffman squeezed her breast when she auditioned for a play he was directing, after Hoffman had won an Academy Award, and when she was still an unknown actress.
In 2017, a spokesman for Streep lamely retracted that claim. Since that retraction, four more women have stepped forward and alleged sexual misconduct against Hoffman.
Meryl Streep was an enabler, a co-dependent, for people like Roman Polanski and Dustin Hoffman.
Streeptococcus
anyone else full up to the gills of the hollywood snowflake hypocrites yet?
Wait. Was this before or after Meryl Screep gave a big standing O to Child Rapist Roman Polanski?
Shut up and make me a sammich, Screep.
Can we please start referring to “the Oscars” as “the Goebbels”?
“And the Goebbels goes to..........Meryl Streep! This is the 4th Goebbels of her illustrious career.”
We’re celebrities, we have big, big brains, trust us, we wouldn’t be famous without big, big brains.
Streep needs to return to acting exclusively.
One needs a brain to participate in politics, and she is obviously has less than a full deck. She has tried to memorize one script too many.
Let the emotive crap coming out of Hollywood end, or they too will become just another rag tag devolution of various unpatriotic skanks people will not remember fondly, after “star world” has tanked.
Just wow.
Scared and demoralized and their solution is to make a movie.
That’ll be really effective.
Especially when the money starts coming in.
Right?
I wont be seeing any Meryl Streeps movies either, & I hope the movie tanks. She should have turned in Dustin Hoffman years ago, but she didnt have the nerve.
