Kate’s Law Killer Judged Innocent – A Mockery
IWB ^ | Mark Angelides

Posted on 12/01/2017 6:59:39 AM PST by davikkm

When Kate Steinle was killed whilst walking on San Francisco’s pier 14 back in 2015, the ensuing case engulfed the nation in a debate rarely seen: What should happen to deported illegal immigrants if they try and re-enter the country? Yet the verdict has just come in, and will likely be even more contentious than the issues this case originally raised.

Jose Ines Garcia Zarate has been found not guilty of murder by the courts. In fact, he was acquitted of first and second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and even assault with a semi-automatic weapon. The only charge of which he was found guilty was being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The jurors made a political statement. Absolutely disgusting!

My belief is that the Prosecution never wanted any type of conviction in the first place. Just ask yourself this question:

If the person that was accidentally Killed was a “Police Officer” would the prosecution been different? Now go ask ANY Prosecutor on the planet the same question.

The jury — and perhaps the judge and the prosecution — evidently chose to send the message that they hate President Trump and are willing to condone murder to prove it.

It’s the OJ trial all over again.

I agree. I wonder if this is some kind of payback for the jury nullification in the Bundy case?

This was a blatant case of jury nullification. A man with multiple felony convictions, fires a gun that kills someone. That’s felony murder right there, irrespective of whether or not it was an “accident,” which I do not believe for a second.

Just looking at some of the excerpts of the prosecutor’s jury address they were not looking for first degree murder. That was an easy one. In fact it appears the prosecutor was leaning heavily on manslaughter. The conviction for the one gun charge was a given. It sounds like the jury accepted the notion he simply came upon the firearm, was playing around with it and it accidentally discharged killing the victim. Hard to escape involuntary manslaughter unless they also accepted the notion he thought it was a toy gun or that he had no reason to believe it was loaded.

What used to be called a Justice System is now a joke, and a bad one.

Every time I hear the words I cringe. OJ, Anthony, and many others have destroyed the standards of justice in this country. The way it works today is, get yourself a good liar for hire (defense atty) and let him destroy everyone involved with the case except the perp and you win.

Further destruction of what was once the America I grew up in.

That and they didn’t want 40% of their latino population going all Rodney King style riot with a guilty verdict.

He killed that girl with a Sig P229 .40 cal. A double action, single action handgun. Its incredibly difficult to accidentally discharge this weapon as it has a very hard pull through.

When the verdict was given, defense attorney Francisco Ugarte said:

“From Day 1 this case was used as a means to foment hate, to foment division and to foment a program of mass deportation. It was used to catapult a presidency along that philosophy of hate of others.”

The only way it fires is by pulling the trigger. At best it should be called a negligent discharge. Which is manslaughter.

Yes involuntary manslaughter is what the guy should have been convicted on. Maybe he was just waving the gun around and fired indiscriminately but he pulled that trigger on purpose.

“The jurors made a political statement. Absolutely disgusting!”

What else can we expect from a city that voted 80% for Hillary Clinton?

I can see a Glock AD but not that double action SIG first pull.

Just to be clear here: the jury is concluding that the prosecution failed to demonstrate that the illegal alien took the actions he’s accused of, right?

I’ll never serve on a jury again. From what I’ve seen around the country, and then us being involved with a trust dispute with Hubby’s sister for 3 years, I know our ‘justice system’ is a joke.

A person that is unfamiliar with a Sig 229 could have left it cocked. That is an ad waiting to happen. Just saying.
