CAPTAIN AMERICA #695 Brings STEVE to 'America's Heartland' (& Out of HYDRA's Shadow)

This week, the fan-favorite Daredevil creative team of Mark Waid and Chris Samnee bring Captain America out of Secret Empire and into “Legacy.” And despite the initiative’s focus on the past, Waid and Samnee are all about moving Steve Rogers forward - out of Hydra, and out of New York.

Starting with November 1’s Captain America #695, Rogers will leave the big city to get back in touch with the heartland of America. Newsarama spoke to Waid and Samnee on the eve of the issue’s release to find out what it takes to get Steve Rogers back in America’s good graces, and whether they’ll answer the question of Steve’s redemption.

Obviously not. Well, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.

Have a blessed day.

Thought this article was bout this guy ...

Captain Matt Bruce is a conservative, independent American voice for freedom emanating from the Tampa Bay area.

A veteran soldier and fire-fighter, that Captain approaches news and events both nationally and locally as an American first - period.
Democrats, Republicans and Independents are all welcome to join the conversation - because it’s all about the “we” and not the “me”

It’s wonderful that he can take the high road with after Waid’s actions.

Waid has the ability to write wonderful stories. I am especially fond of “Gotham by Gaslight”, “Kingdom Come” and his run on “The Flash”.

But, in recent years, he has really pushed his progressive politics with his work for Marvel. This plainly on display during his run on “The Champions”.

Look, I am at a point in my life where I am no longer blindly loyal to brands, companies or creators that expect me to support them while they use their product as a soap box for whatever their grievance du-jour is. (And it really doesn’t impress me when they use social media to go after consumers of said product who request that they tone down the politics.)

To me comics should be entertaining, and allow you to leave real world problems behind for a while. This is probably why I am focusing on completing my Carl Barks collection.

ymmv

I agree with you. #695 has a strong Jack Kirby influence in my opinion, which I really liked. And #696 showing Cap with a sword was intriguing to me, which is the whole point of the cover, isn't it?

Not a comics reader anymore but have fond memories and those covers actually made me think "you know, if I were jumping back in I might do it to see what's up with Cap these days"

I watched the video in post #3 up until he got to spoilers about Captain America #695 and then I stopped.

One of the interesting things he mentioned was that as a Comic Book shop owner he is happy that with issue #695, is that the book is an excellent point for people to get back into Captain America without having to acquire a whole bunch of others.

I hope to pick up my copy tomorrow.

The issue #695 cover is interesting, Captain America’s original Steve Rogers was at a low point but now he is back and the bad guys are going to feel it. Thus the shield is brought high from low while the villains take a beating.
