Women want RESOURCES. That is tied to status but not always.
But basically they want stuff without doing hard work for it, they would rather glom onto someone who did the hard work and then its “our” stuff.

As far as survival women want stable men to provide for them and their children. This makes sense. The question is why do men want beautiful women. A beautiful woman may be stupid and inept, which over time may prove her to be insufferable. Why are men so attracted to beautiful women?
In the beginning we were all beautiful, being perfectly made by God, Adam and Eve. Over time, as genetic mutations took over more of our body, we not only become weaker, but uglier. Maybe beautiful women are thought, on a subconscious level, to be better mates because they have fewer expressed genetic mutations.

Good looking correlates with healthy, needed for the mother of the men's children.
High status desired to better take care of the woman and her children.
Politically, freedom is a beautiful woman and the State is a high status man. That is why the 19th Amendment (+ the 16th & 17th)that initiated and made inevitable the progression to the Total State.
