Had to right this. And no, I didn't make a mistake. Here in fragrant Los Angeles there is a new scam sweeping the streets. It's all the rage man! What the scumbags do is get a picture of a little baby, post it on a piece of cardboard, and write on it that little FuFu doesn't have any money for a funeral. They also write rest in peace and all of that. Then said scumbags, there are usually about 3 or 4, walk thru the L.A. traffic that is stopped at the light and beg for funeral money for little fufu. They must be very unlucky because I keep seeing the same scumbags over and over. I've seen about a half a dozen of these humanitarian crews working the traffic. Wow, so unlucky, dead babies everywhere. I talked to the cops and they said there's nothing they can do. A lot of the people that say they're homeless aren't homeless, a lot of the ones that say veteran never served, etc. etc. Well I thought this particular heartless, low, rancid, degenerate scam was really beyond it all. Of course, this is L.A. maybe it isn't happening where you live, yet. But these things have a sickening way of catching on. So in any event, this is another scam, don't give them money unless you want to be a fool. These guys are always young, maybe gang members and they use the money for 40's . (large containers of beer) and crack, whatever. Pass the word. Just more scumbag behavior from bona fide scumbags. Be on the look out for. Pass it on
Do they demand to clean your windshield too ?
Welcome to the big city this has been going on in so cal for years nothing new about
I never give to beggars, regardless of their almost certainly fabricated stories.
Must be a new thing. Saw the same scam on the subway last week on the East Coast. The bums must have a news letterer a professional journal.
This is a new twist on the scam in that they are leaving the medians to actually walk into traffic.
I like to observe them while sitting at long traffic lights at busy intersections. I have watched them discreetly pull the iPhone out of the ragged pants to check the time, pack up and walk to their car in a nearby lot and throw away fast food given to them by a motorist.
I have also seen lots of libtards rolling down their windows and giving them money. Must be a lucrative business, because certain spots are always manned. Funny how two never show up at the same time.
” A lot of the people that say they’re homeless aren’t homeless, a lot of the ones that say veteran never served, etc. etc. “
They collect the homeless in Chicago and bus them down to a home in Florida or Texas where they get free board and the usual federal meal tickets. There they take them in a van to a designated corner. It is all organized.
Some people make a pretty good living bumming at intersections. A dingbat doing it in Austin years ago with two kids and let the newspaper interview her. She said she’d made enough to buy 5 acres and was saving to build a house. She suffered a huge drop in business.
I like the ones who claim they’re disabled vets. It that was true they’d be getting a check every month.
GYPSIES!!!!!!!!!
Not always. There is a difference between service connected disability and non-service connected disability.
Agreed. There are plenty of good, decent people who are down on their luck who could use financial and emotional support.
No. That means they are making their quotas. If they were unlucky they'd stop.
Note to self: Don’t live in LA. Don’t visit LA. Don’t have anything to do with LA.
There's a fat guy that continually hangs around our local Walgreen's pharmacy asking for "spare change" for a meal. Once in a while some soft-headed mark will give him money. I caught him once going in to the Walgreen's and coming out with a Pepsi and some candy bars.
They have moved these scams to small cities too!
Saw one guy with a sign reading, “Need money for beer. At least I’m honest.”
This isn’t a scam. It just the expression of another culture. A culture that is superior to British based Judeo-Christian culture - because all cultures are superior to British based Judeo-Christian cultures where hard work, good morals and self responsibility are prized.
How dare you judge!? You must die for your racism.
Bingo! I was shopping in Fresno, CA, near the intersection of Blackstone and Ashlan, and a ghoul was working the curbed median obnoxiously shouting “help the little guy” over and over and over, while holding up a black poster-board adorned with pictures of ‘the little guy’. I couldn’t tell from my location whether ‘the little guy’ was being portrayed as sick or deceased. Either way, I wasn’t buying it, and neither was anyone in traffic.
New scam in Midwest:
Print barcode labels that match a gift card that the perp already owns.
Affix those labels to gift cards that have not yet been purchased and are in the big racks of assorted cards at drug stores and grocery stores.
When unsuspecting customer buys said gift cards, the barcode adds the dollar amount to the perps card.
At least thats the way it is being explained in local media.
Watch for gift cards with overlayed stick-on labels.
Word of advice is never to give money to pan-handlers. Ever. People may think they are doing a good deed by dropping a buck or two into their cups but they aren't. They are only encouraging the panhandlers to get even more aggressive in their tactics.
