The overwhelmingly cute My Little Pony: The Movie (the font squeezes hearts into each O and P, and the spiders have googly pink eyes) is less a film than a feature-length very special episode of the TV hit My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, a kiddie cartoon thats spent seven seasons insisting that everyone needs a hug (villains, too). Audiences who havent followed the glitter-bomb adventures of bossy bookworm Twilight Sparkle, glamorous Rarity, hyperactive Pinkie Pie, introverted Fluttershy, speed demon Rainbow Dash and country girl Applejack dont get a helping hoof in understanding the land of Equestria and audiences saddled with cynicism will have to shake it off by the first chords of the Go-Gos We Got the Beat.

It is good they got to share this movie experience before they go because, Friendship Is Magic!
My teeth hurt. Long annoying commercial.
Nice weekend on tap...some filet of horse sounds mighty good.
I’ll be watching it tomorrow with a brony group.
I haven’t seen the movie, but I have watched every episode of this show with my Daughter, and honestly its one of the few pieces of entertainment on TV today that I believe is truly family friendly... Which I was beyond shocked when I first started watching it with her, since its essentially TV made by a toy company.
The show has always be wholesome, and uplifting and safe family fare. It is schmaltzy with most episodes teaching a lesson about friendship and being a decent person.
Unless the movie goes wildly away from the show that has been around for 7 years now, it seems this reviewer is projecting a bit of offense where none are there. I will see it with my daughter this weekend, but if the movie is ANYTHING like the show, claiming this movie is somehow an affront to decency or immoral in any way seems impossible.
Are you for real?
Seen Bladerunner?
I’m glad family programming exists but it’s far too saccharin for me. The way this film is described makes me want to run at warp speed to Tex Avery and the gang.
is this the story of John Edwards?
My daughter, at one time, could tell you all the pony’s names. I used to read the books to her and we had fun with her MLP play set. It was a very sweet time with her.
She would have loved this movie back then.
*sigh*
They grow SO fast.
It’s probably so sweet it give you cavities..................
Thank you. Maybe I’ll take the grandkids.
Some of the best times of my life were watching tv with the kids: Barney, the Fairly Odd Parents, Pokemon. Later on it was the animal channel—back to back poisonous snakes. Then Mel Brooks movies—a must for young boys.
Now the youngest is in college (ROTC, basic training completed,) the oldest is readying for the LSAT. Forgive my boasting, but if I can claim to have ever done anything right, they are probably it.
If I had some younguns now I’d take them to see it, just so I could see their delight.
You’re kidding, right? You didn’t admit to being a pervert right here on FR did you?
Yes.
We’re not perverts, just nerds!
