Southern Poverty Law Center, NAACP, Anti-defamation League, Human Rights Campaign, Council on American Islamic Relations, Asian Pacific American Advocates and the League of United Latin American Citizens

The CEO of MGM Resorts International—the company that owns the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino—from which could-be “radicalized” Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock shot down at a crowd of 23,000, killing 59 and injuring more than 530, pledged to match employees’ donations to top civil rights groups of the day only six weeks ago.

In his letter sent to employees, MGM Resorts International CEO Jim Murren cited the violence at a white supremacists rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, the three deaths, and the terrorist incident in Barcelona, Spain, (that) killed 13 people and said it caused a feeling of disgust by its hatred. It is going to be interesting to see how they handle all the liability claims from guests and concert goers. I’m suggesting the cases will have merit, but there is gong to be a crap ton of them.

The more I see the highest levels of corporate America, the more i see they are bought and paid for crony-capitalists, supporting leftism, statism and social engineering, all in favor being insiders and crony capitalists to allow better skimming from the public. Its by far the worst in media, entertainment, finance, and even defense. All those that benefit most by government spending, enforcement and regulation.

The NFL was the most recent revealed to me as such.

So they seek to fund the very groups that perpetuate all the hate and discord.

The NRA is America’s oldest civil rights group.

Maybe off topic, and I admit I don’t know the laws in this case. But I don’t see how Mandalay Bay has great liability.

It seems to me that the hotel was incidental to the heinous actions.

What liability do they have? For example, will some attorneys suing claim that they failed to screen his luggage for weapons or explosives?

I’m sure somehow they will be sued. I just can’t figure off hand exactly what they failed to do, legally, that makes them somehow legally liable for a nutcase using their premises to carry out a massacre.

I work IT in a large sporting venue. We get sued for everything. Slip and falls. Fans getting hit in the stands with whatever. Literally, drunks falling down stairs. People who OD'ed sue our care center. A surprising number succeed.

One angle in this case may be negligence in maintaining the Gun Free zone they had signage up for.

Doubtful the company will survive the lawsuits, at least not in its current form.

Doesn't matter in today's world. Everyone from the Port Authority to the GWB administration to the airlines got sued after 9-11.

Exactly. And all employees not responding to “the call” would be blackballed.
