ISIS claimed credit for the attack in Las Vegas Monday, however, an FBI agent involved in the investigation said there is no evidence of a connection to terrorism at this point. NY Times correspondent Rukmini Callimachi says its not true that ISIS claims responsibility for every attack, but she has her doubts about the accuracy of this claim:

Rita Katz, Director of SITE Intelligence Group, also has a thread on the ISIS claim. She says ISIS is doubling down on this claim but still providing no evidence:

So ISIS is definitely claiming this but still offering nothing in the way of proof. The translation of the most recent statement is behind SITEs paywall but it appears they are claiming this was inspired by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadis call for more attacks made in an audio statement released last week. This was the first time in 10 months that anyone had heard from Baghdadi.
At the Atlantic, author Graeme Wood also says ISIS does not claim credit for every attack. However, he notes that the group recently made similar claims of responsibility for another attack which appears to have been a lie:
They have offered no evidenceno cell-phone video from the killer, pledging allegiance in broken Arabic; no selfies of him, raising a finger of monotheism. Another absent sign of Islamic State involvement is videos from Paddocks rifle-scope. At attacks like the Holey Bakery in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the killers have uploaded real-time images, exclusive and corroborating imagery for Amaq. As with many subsequently verified attacks, we have not yet, in these early hours, seen any such evidence.
If their claim is a rare false one, it will not even be the first false claim to feature a casino. In June, a gambling addict shot up and torched the Resorts World casino in Manila, Philippines. The Islamic State claimed credit, with a dubious follow-up alleging that Jessie Javier Carlos, 42, converted to Islam some months before, without telling anyone. That explanation appears to be a total lie. A false claim of credit in Las Vegas will effectively shred the Islamic States news agencys credibility. It will become a news agency that was once reliable, and now associates itself indiscriminately with heavily armed crazy people in casinos.
However, FBI Special Agent Aaron Rouse said at a press conference today that there is no evidence to this point the shooter had a connection to terrorism.

The police have searched the shooters home but Sherriff Joseph Lombardo said he was not aware of any derogatory information that we can utilize in furtherance of the investigation at this point.
When someone commits an act with a terrorist motivation, they usually want the world to know. Omar Mateen, the Pulse nightclub shooter, made 911 calls in which he pledged allegiance to ISIS, knowing those calls would be recorded and, eventually, shared. So if this really is ISIS-inspired it seems odd that Paddock didnt leave a note or a video or something making clear his motive. Maybe something will turn up but so far ISIS claim is unsupported.
Of course there was no evidence of any Moslem component. Nothing is permissible to construe as evidence of Islamic involvement in violence or lawbreaking.
If this is related to Antifa it will take longer for it to come out than if it is Moslem and will be denied more vehemently when it does..
Do you have a link? I have searched the internet everywhere. I found a total blackout about his voter registration. Questioning his voter registration must be considered badthink by the MSM.
So they were in the suite repeatedly for three days and didn't notice the alleged arsenal? That's a lot to stuff to hide.
There were two gun shops- one only sold him a shotgun and some other minor weapon or item.
The other- Guitars and Guns or some such name, didn’t say what they sold to him but did admit he was a customer. Since they were less talkative he probably bought the items used in the attack from them.
He appears more like the Bernie Bro who shot up Steve Scalise and the baseball practice in DC.
Reading too many supermarket tabloids lately?
yes.
Not to mention KSM was quite the womanizing party animal in the Philippines.
I disagree. With all the planning and logistics being involved, this guy's brain did not just wake up psycho one morning. This was as well planned as anything the Jihadists would do. Not saying he is of their ilk, but he put a lot of thought into this, and had a specific date and target in mind.
Personally, I think he is just one more crazed anti-Trumper.
All true.
“Wealth” in this case ( I believe ) translates to a “high roller”. That is, he dealt in wealth but with great risk. This is in fact a syndrome ... “doubling down” ... You keep raising the stakes, so you can exhibit the apparent fruits of wealth at increasing levels until your obligations catch up with you. It’s an old story, and I surmise that it is the story in this case, as I’ve posted earlier.

“Im betting it was a leftist, probably belonged to antifa, and wanted to kill right wing folk.”
No, the narrative is of a middle aged millionaire white man ironically killing a bunch of Trump supporters with the evul muhsheen guns.
Lone gunman killed 37 people in a casino in Manila in June and Isis took credit for that . The P I government said isis was not responsible and that it was the lone gunman.
I totally agree. Way more hardware than he needed but a large suite would help with storage
They had the tsar broz on a watch list where they were never watched.
Middle aged rich men don’t go on killing sprees.
And they “think” with their often volatile feelings.
“Why target a concert? He didn’t target the offices of a casino where he had been gipped...”
I see a possible pattern. A concert in England was also targeted not that long ago. By Islamics.
This man’s father was also messed up in the head according to a report yesterday — one of the FBI’s most wanted.
So he had that as a role model [unless debunked], and I wouldn’t rule out Islam.
“The fact that he was blowing money at the casinos makes me think he was just a mental case”
Or he knew he was going to die soon.
