I think that is quote from Second Hand Lions
To paraphrase the old Army commercials:
He is a league of one.
That might be right, seems like I did see that movie. Robert Duval is one of my top favorite male actors.
I did see that movie, but I’m going to try to find it again.
AMEN! A real patriot!
Too bad for him. Ef the nfl.
Between the beating of girlfriends, dope, booze, hookers, spending money on big houses and high-end fast cars, and killing people who “dissed” them, when would a football “professional” find time to help anybody else out?
Hope Rush is back tomorrow to explain away his Steelers performance.
Great thread. Thanks for posting
This is the greatest sports story since Lou Gehrig gave his famous speech at Yankee stadium.
Here is one man Alejandro Villanueva, with an insanely manly background, who broke away from his wimpy coach and wimpy team to take a stand on the field.
He didn’t have just one tour in Afghanistan. He didn’t have two tours in Afghanistan. He had three. He stood as tall as Jim Bowie. What a contrast between him and the kneelers.
This is one for the poets.
Hooah! I think many fans will still boycott, based on the actions of the others— at least Alejandro did the right thing.
The STEELER OF MY HEART.
Thank you, for STANDING when all others might have been on their knees. Thank You for expressing your love of GOD AND COUNTRY, unashamed and LOUDLY! Bless you, sir.
“Couldnt believe his teammates left him out to dry like that. It says a lot about the team and its really quite sad”
For sure. Been thinking a lot about this. These NFL players should attend a KIA funeral and observe the reverence and respect shown to the flag. And, solemness of presenting the folded flag to the deceased military persons, usually a spouse, mom, dad, etc. quite often it’s a young mom with a young child standing beside her. Then these idiots might get a clue...
Good on Ya,Mate!
So very nicely said. Thank you.
Ding ding ding ... We have a WINNER, no more calls.
>> “Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.”
Sounds familiar, John Wayne? <<
NO, not John Wayne.
Robert Duvall in “Second Hand Lions”
Second Hand Lions.
Trump should have this patriot over to the White House for lunch.
Not the team.
Only Mr. Villanueva.
