President Donald Trump's comments on Friday in Alabama that NFL teams should cut any player who protests during the national anthem left a bad taste in the mouths of many players, and it turns out multiple ownership groups took issue with his speech as well.
"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now," Trump said to a cheering crowd in Huntsville. "Out. He's fired. He's fired."
Commissioner Roger Goodell called out the president for his remarks, and players from Richard Sherman to LeSean McCoy and more shared their responses on Twitter. But they weren't alone in criticizing the president for his comments.
Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch released a statement Saturday:
"Comments like we heard last night from the president are inappropriate, offensive and divisive. We are proud of our players, the vast majority of whom use their NFL platform to make a positive difference in our society."(continued)

I miss the XFL.
hmmm....NFL ad revenues for 2016 were $1.25 billion, licensed logo items accounted for about a billion.
Advertisers pay viewer volume in all media. Once hard numbers show a downward trend they’lll be looking for give backs. Retailers of NFL paraphernalia will feel the pinch. Stadium Food service, programs, souvenir sales all will take some kind of hit. For many of them season sales provide a good chunk of their annual revenue.
One knee drop leads to another, leads to a trickle, a stream, a cascade. Lots of angry broken rice bowl owners will make themselves heard. Follow the money.
A few years ago Goodell announced project growth to 25 billion by 2020.
LOL!
And we elected the NFL players and owners to which public office? Oh, felons can’t hold an office ... silly me.
Grandpa told me to never wrestle a pig.
You both get dirty and the pig kind of likes it.
You said it, Jaz.
But as we're seeing with other leftist enterprises (Big Media, Academia, Entertainment), they don't seem to care that their hate-filled politics is hurting their bottom dollar. Fools.
I'm done with the NFL.
These NFL owners have been trying to sweep these protest under the rug.
Trump has forced them to defend lack of discipline. Something, like u said
the owners cannot win on.
Look for more empty seats at stadiums and a continued decrease
in ratings.
NFL guilty of treason and sedition...

Nobody seems to remember the NFL made millions off the military for their pregame red, white and blue festivites. Giving the public a patriotic illusion while lining their pockets.
Will not watch another N Fools League game.
They are trashing the flag, the troops, and the citizens on the USA.
Looks like I’m going to get a bunch of projects done this fall.
No fooball. Screw em!
Whatever they say middle America will hear, don’t stand for the National Anthem. Democrats should be careful
Yep, these NFL asshats forget who writes their checks
We’re fixing to see who will stick up for America and who will kowtow to these not-so-put upon, overpaid, dumber than a box of hair players who bring politics to the field and demonstrate this disgusting behavior!! Stay tuned.......
Pee on the stinking NFL. I no longer watch their garbage league and its punks. Screw the IQ of 15, only skill is to play with a stupid ball made of pig skins. I quit watching the NFL a couple of years ago. The crap they have done recently has reinforced my beliefs to do that. If I want to watch a football game these days, I go watch a local high school game where 99.99% of the kids will not even play college ball.
Exactly! And to think Green Bay is the conservative center of Wisconsin. I wonder what those “owners” think of their team now?
I’ll bet there are game threads tomorrow. Here on freerepublic.
Trump under growing pressure over NFL player comments
LOL........President Trump??? I’m with you sparklite2, they sure don’t know him.
Just hope lil Kim doesn’t hit an ally with one of his toys. Can we say DRAFT?
probably throw some money to a vets association and maybe to a cop association, but they'll also throw money at the BGI creeps....
Amen, Fly. I’m done with them too.
Goodell and these jerkwads protesting as well as those who support them aren’t worth spit.
Well, if the money was right...
;-)
