Among the reasons that have been spoken about ad nauseum, I would add, too many teams, watered-down talent. Only about 4-5 half-decent quarterbacks in the league.
Viewership is low but attendance is at a high.
A few pictures floating around here of empty stands doesn’t make a fact a non fact.
Maybe if folks knew what the Anthem was actually about, it would hit attendance.
What are these America haters doing about the 150 countries that still allow slavery?
Even before the recent problems, I’ve never heard a convincing reason to sit in a chair for hours and eat junk food I’ve been programmed to buy.
Maybe normal Americans are tired of hearing millionaire sports entertainers complain about how “oppressed” they are.
There are a lot of factors contributing to the public's declining interest in football. But anything that depends so heavily on marketing will ultimately peak. People begin to ask themselves if they really want it. One clear signal was when there was more interest in the superbowl commercials than in the game.
Let's face it. Football can be a pretty tedious form of entertainment. Folks aren't as willing to be sold the idea that they enjoy it.
Then:
We used to love the players and have a good time.
Now:
Now, the players hate us and make sure we don’t have a good time.
I believe it is a bunch of factors that have built up over the years. The millionaire anti-American cry baby players might have been the last straw with many fans.
I also believe arrogance on behalf of those running the NFL over the years, thinking fans will always be there with whatever entertainment product the NFL forced on them.
My guess the NFL is infested with liberals from our liberal indoctrinated colleges and they have no clue how their PC and other BS, plays out in the real world. Corporate America has the same problems.
CGato
Watching extremely well-compensated athletes behave badly and complain about how oppressed they are is a bit much for Joe Sixpack, who has been struggling for the past ten years just to keep his floozy job and make the mortgage, while his family’s health insurance went through the roof to the point that they can’t afford even an occasional night out, let alone going to an NFL game, so it’s more than a little galling to the point that they’ve finally just tuned it all out. Let ‘em rot.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the players hate their audience, hate the country that they play in, and are not shy about telling the audience that.
So all of the NFL can go f@#! themselves.
If you time the actual play time in a 3 hour game - from snap of the ball to the whistle that ends the play - the players play approximately 15 minutes.
I’ll stick with hockey. 60 minutes (or more) of real hard competition.
Come on guys, let’s get the Anti-American reason to win.
Leftism destroys everything it touches...even the NFL.
Not long ago whole groups of us would get all excited for what became a real social event watching six-eight hours of NFL football. The game was great, the announcers were great, and the commercials were few and also entertaining.
The food, the drink, rubbing elbows with those you were too busy to see/talk to during the week...
It started with free agency, then the commercials, then pink October, then blatant and obvious racism by the networks and teams.
One by one everyone eventually lost interest and found other, more rewarding things to do after Church on Sunday.
The NFL will find out that, like any other business, once you lose a customer it is very, very hard to get them back.
Right now college football has gotten my interest.
Backlash.
Viewers have been subjected to decadent and criminal behavior from gazillion dollar players for years, and now racist players disrespecting the fans when they indulge their personal politics against the American flag and National Anthem, over their sport and the fans.
Add to that the helicopter parent known as the NFL excusing it all and shoving transgender bathrooms into the negotiations for game venues.
Normal Americans with kids can barely afford to go to games and paying for the Stalinist BS is deemed a bridge too far.
Besides, the games are so commercialized they last too damn long.
What’s an NFL?
Why is NFL viewership so low?
Fans’ disgust over anti-American protests (38%)
A combination of factors (37%)
Competition from the hurricanes and the presidential race
(22%)
I’m not sure (4%)
A combination of factors is second. A combination of WHAT factors? Absolutely 100% it IS because of the anti-American protests.
