Sitting atop the Frazier History Museum in downtown Louisville on Monday morning was the who's who of Kentucky's legal community, all gathered to witness the investiture of John Kenneth Bush, President Donald Trump's latest appointee to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Overlooking the banks of the Ohio River, 6h Circuit Chief Judge R. Guy Cole, Jr. pointed out that the limited number of cases taken by the Supreme Court each year makes appointments to the circuit court -- the level just below the high court -- among the most important any president makes.
On that score, President Trump has hit home run after home run by appointing conservative lawyers to the various circuit court vacancies. In Bush, he found a highly qualified, Harvard-educated lawyer dedicated to the US Constitution and the nation's founding principles (he even named his dogs after Founding Fathers). During his confirmation, liberals expressed outraged that Bush had once written that America's two "greatest tragedies" were "slavery and abortion." Imagine that -- a pro-life, Republican president nominated a pro-life judge....

Harvard-educated conservative? Seriously?
Harvard has been completely radical left since no later than 1975.
The Harvard parchment should be an automatic disqualifier in my opinion.
Hopefully this guy really is a conservative, (the name bush gave me qualms as well).
This has nothing to do with DACA. It’s simply Trump fulfilling a campaign promise.
Scalia went to Harvard.
Their tears are best with morning coffee!
So you think everybody with the last name “Bush” is related to George and Jeb? I’ll bet there are people here with that last name. It’s pretty common.
Yes, Trump has been nailing it on justices. Hope it continues!
So did Ted Cruz, Bill O’Reilly, Steve Bannon, Tom Cotton and Neil Gorsuch.
Set their hair on fire.....
A little good news before retiring for the evening. Thank you for posting this.
Is anybody here tired of winning yet? Nope, I didn’t think so.
Point well taken ... as for my DACA angst, the next time I'm asked to sit on a jury, I'm going to tell the judge, "since this local jurisdiction won't assist the federal Gov't in enforcing Immigration Laws, I'm not going to assist this jurisdiction in enforcing ANY law - I'm not going to find anyone guilty ..."
I’m big and rough looking so they always dismiss me from jury duty right off the bat. LOL
I tell them what I like best about being on a jury is out we don’t like the law we get to change it... Not on many juries. Judge said you know that’s not true. I smiled oh yes it is dont be naive your honor
i admit it, my instinctive response was “oh crap! not another one!”
James Brown wigs for everyone!
I believe that is one of the reasons Trump has talked to Schumer is to ease and speed his appointments through the Senate. If negotiations on DACA means getting hundreds of appointments through then so be it. Trump is a deal maker not an ideologue.
“Its simply Trump fulfilling a campaign promise.”
...and that is the point.
“The Harvard parchment should be an automatic disqualifier in my opinion.”
I graduated from Berkeley Law School — easily as radical as Harvard and I’ll put my conservative credentials up against the very best.
