Mayor is a democrat. They play games with the city limit to ensure democrat control. Anytime democrats want to address gerrrymandering, they should have to address these games with city limits first. The city boundary of Houston looks as bad as some of the worst congressional districts.

How hard would it have been to announce that evacuation of known highly flood-prone areas was strongly advisable and could very likely become mandatory, with a plan quickly devised section by section in Houston, with those furthest away from interstates heading out of the area of potential flooding getting first priority? I’d think that would have worked to get those who were most at risk of being stranded or trapped out first, then everyone else could make the determination as to whether or not to evacuate on their own. That would have limited the traffic jam to an extent and it certainly would have mitigated the potential danger to citizens.

“Does he have a safe somewhere in the flood zone he needs to clean out?”

If you are referring to Wm. Jennings “Cold Cash” Jefferson of NOLA, it was a freezer, not a safe!

He’s in the slammer!
On November 13, 2009, Jefferson was sentenced to thirteen years, the longest sentence yet handed down to a congressman for bribery or any other crime.

Miami, during Hurricane Andrew, was evacuated pretty effectively.. I know, I was stationed there at the time.

If the Mayor of Houston was white and Republican, all Hell would have broken out after learning he told people to stay put. Right or wrong, I hear nothing about it now from the MSM but if the color and party affiliation were switched, it would be ALL over the news.
