Eric Parker and Scott Drexler to be tried on charges where the jury was hung in the second trial.
When the jury came down 'not guilty' on 34 of 40 charges for the defendants at the second Bunkerville Standoff trial. Rick Lovelien and Steven Stewart walked free found not guilty on all charges after spending 18 months in prison without bail.
Eric Parker and Scott Drexler were released to a halfway house last night with not guilty verdicts on most of their charges and jury hung on some (four for Parker, two for Drexler).
Today at a detention hearing in Las Vegas an animated and angered Acting US Attorney Steven Myhre, the lead prosecutor in the case, insisted the men were dangerous and a threat and should remain in custody.
But the judge (US District Judge Gloria Navarro) decided after juries failed to convict the men at their first two trials, they will be allowed to go free ahead of the third trial.
With conditions for their release, Parker and Drexler are expected to be freed and allowed to return to their homes in Idaho.
The planned date for their third trial is September 25th.
This means plans to try the key defendants in the April 12, 2014 standoff near Bundy Ranch like members of the Bundy Family (Cliven, Ammon, Ryan and others) will be pushed further back as they remain locked up without bail.
The feds have unlimited funds, the deepest of pockets, so the US attorneys couldn’t give a rat’s behind about dumping more and more taxpayer dough in order to fund their progressive big government jihad against the patriotic small fry. There’s no end to their leftist prosecutorial insanity.
Good thing that Jeff Sessions is AG and that he’ll put an end to this nonsense. /s
One way to stop this crap in the future...get the gubbmint out of the real estate business. What is the Constitutional authority for FedGov to be the largest landholder in the country?
Sessions is a statist, though one of more equal opportunity than his immediate predessors. (spellin failure)
Thanks for keeping up with this. I visit FR just for this reason.
Its actually 18 months but as its stands now they will go two years before they are tried likely next year.
And Dingy’s personal minion Neil Kornze appointed to be head of the BLM.
Kornze had the good sense to voluntarily depart Jan 20.
No jack booted leos were kilt.
Though you need to ask yourself why the BLM needs SWAT TEAMS.
“These are lands that could have been leased to other ranchers. They are thieves, nothing less.”
You are a moron. You do realize there are no ranchers left in that area, the government drove them all off. Then they turned that area into the Golden Butte conservation area.
In other words, in Nevada where 85% of the land is owned by the Fed Gov, they HAD TO HAVE the Bundy ranch too.
So you mean to say that these two will remain in prison until the next trial? How is that fair? Are they a flight risk?
Heck, they should declare themselves citizens of Guatemala and they’ll be released right away.

Edumacate yourself pilgrim...
Jeff Sessions needs to step in here. Being tried twice is enough. By taking this to trial a third time the government is saying they have no respect for the justice system.
Oh yoo hoo Jeff Sessions...how about putting an end to Obama’s shit already?
They’re actually in a halfway house right now with conditions being worked out for them to go home awaiting the next trial.
They will need to have jobs back home, for instance.
Out of control Feds yet again, with Establishment Jeff praising the federal prosecutors. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
This is prosecutorial abuse. The Constitutuon is supposed to protect citizens from heavy handed tactics by the state. The average person may eventually win, but they’ll be bankrupted in the process.
“...And Sessions....don’t even get me started on that useless tool....”

My assessment is that Sessions is a meek, timid individual who is intimidated/frightened by the Leftists on staff at DOJ. He essentially is doing THEIR bidding and carrying out THEIR recommendations instead of exercising leadership. He is now the Deep Staters’ man, IMHO.
Well, I suspect that “Reno” knows all about “Dirty Harry” Reid; they both have the same views on this Bunkerville business.

So very true, LH.
The average person doesn’t have the funds to hire slick, high-priced, and WELL-CONNECTED defense attorneys.
The way the Bunkerville defendants are being treated is the stuff over which, throughout history, revolutions arise...and with just cause.
Okay, so in post 37 I challenged those throwing around insults to instead get serious and offer some real discussion. See my posts 37, 38, 14, and 25. So far, from those commenting to or about my post, everyone is continuing with more of the same, insults and uninformed comments, not a single specific, respectful, and reasoned response. Incredible but not surprising as I am sure most find it difficult to answer my questions here, or explain themselves. Hard to justify defending and advocating killing our law enforcement officers on behalf of thieves and poachers, isnt it. And if so, would you care to put your name on such a position?
You're a liar. Because you like jackboots I guess.
