Get ready for the 'tech alt-right' to gain power and influence in Silicon Valley
Business Insider ^ | August 9, 2017 | James D. Miller, Contributor

Posted on 08/09/2017 7:20:59 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The firing of James Damore over his "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber" memo will empower the tech alt-right.

To understand why, imagine yourself as a Republican working at a big Silicon Valley tech company.

You agree with Damore that some average differences between men and women probably explain some of why such a high proportion of computer programmers are male. You, however, in no way consider yourself sexist.

What Damore's termination tells you is that many in your field consider people with your beliefs to be unfit to work with. They hold opinions of you similar to those of former senior Google employee Yonatan Zunger, who wrote about Damore, saying:

"Do you understand that at this point, I could not in good conscience assign anyone to work with you? I certainly couldn't assign any women to deal with this, a good number of the people you might have to work with may simply punch you in the face, and even if there were a group of like-minded individuals I could put you with, nobody would be able to collaborate with them." (Emphasis mine.)

If you are on the right, you probably find it hard to imagine that any reasonably person could read Damore's memo and think that it reveals the author to be sexist, punchable, or a danger to women's careers. It appears to you that Damore was excommunicated for questioning the progressive diversity narrative in a most respectful manner.

The right calls the kind of people who went after Damore by the derogative term "Social Justice Warriors" (SJWs). SJWs hold progressive views on diversity and identify politics and, supposedly, find virtue in harming those with heretical beliefs.....

Alt-right or left, just shut up at work and do your job. The bosses don’t care about your political views, they just want you to do the job they hired you for. It’s that simple.

“a good number of the people you might have to work with may simply punch you in the face, “

So Google admits they hire violent nut jobs and are proud of it.

You are living in an alternate reality.

One does not have to be vocal about conservative views, just being suspected of being a conservative is enough. It even goes as far as being punished for insufficient enthusiasm for the diversity line. HR departments have been thoroughly infiltrated by zampolits. This is Obama’s fundamental transformation.

The entire country is splitting over ideology. It makes sense that businesses will too. It sucks working in a liberal hell hole of a company when you are conservative leaning. Not only can you not say anything; you have to listen to their lies and crap ideas about how things should be and how so and so sucks while you think he or she rocks.

Ideological diversity is a living hell at the workplace unless someone actually likes being stabbed in the back repeatedly day in and day out.

There is no working with SJW’s once they have you targeted. Complaining to your boss about the harrassment and sabotage makes you look like a whiny b_t_h.

Right. Billion dollar Marxists and homofascists running the industry and an “alt-right” conservative corporate culture will return in America. Not likely.

The Left says that corporations are capitalist because they seek money. Obviously they haven’t been in an office workplace in 25 years.

And HR has annual online “Training” courses where you have to parrot back the politically correct line.

Meanwhile the one I took 2 years ago still took God’s name in vain without challenge.

The advancements the Cali crew has made against what we chemists, logicians, engineers and just plain not-dumb tech folks is depressing.

Go join africa and other dindu, don’t and never will anti Americans.

GTFO you ignorant waste of American expense.

Actually, these days, they do. I’ve heard of friends being questioned about their political beliefs and being told “I won’t hire a Trump supporter.”

Maybe this chap was getting ready to quit anyhow, so he figured that he might as well force Google to do it publicly.

Agree... the kind of respect that made such a detente even possible between those of otherwise wildly disagreeing possible, is no longer there.

The company is now there to teach YOU how to think.

Given that, if the system, which is unavoidable, can be used to counter the nonsense, it should be used.

And that spokesbeing? Ludicrous... how did he ever think that the world even worked before his crowd came on the scene to try to reinvent mankind? He didn’t even ask actual women of Google how they’d regard this fellow. I bet most probably wouldn’t tag him as impossible troglodyte.

Google has torn off even its fig leaf and has gone streaking through the streets, to a combination of consternation and amusement.

Make sure your Obamacare coverage is paid up.

Might not matter, though, since you are unlikely to survive the ambulance ride.

It should be that simple, but it is definitely not. The senior management at these tech firms - the household names - have gone full SJW. It is wrong on many levels (professionalism and serving a diverse market among them), but it is definitely the fact. I am speaking with first hand knowledge as an employee of a West coast tech firm.

Given the power these companies have over modern lifestyle and information, you should be concerned.

It’s interesting that not that long ago San Jose was a town full of orchards and cows. People from San Francisco thought it was beneath them to bother to take the time to see it, let alone live in it.
Now it is the Silicon Valley and it is trying to dictate the mores for the entire world and is full of SJWs.

So, so true. This is like pretending the murderous Mexican illegale invasion hasn’t happened, as long as I personally can avoid coming close to one of them... and am lucky enough not to have one come close to ME.

Well, it looks like this guy from Google died publicly on his sword. Well he ain’t working at Google, but he’s getting calls from as far flung as Wikileaks.

This was his “Take this job and shove it” manifesto. And I would not be surprised to see America soon saying “Take this Google and shove it” too. And those cowards WOULD back down if serious American wrath actually came their way.
