CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Allstate Insurance Co. announced on Wednesday plans to more than double its North Carolina workforce by expanding in the Charlotte area, investing more than $22 million and creating 2,250 new jobs by 2020.

Gov. Roy Cooper and leaders of the nation’s largest publicly-traded personal insurance company were joined by local leaders in announcing the expansion, beginning in 2018, at the Charlotte Chamber office. Allstate listed a wide range of jobs to be filled, but a company official said they were still working on specifics.

“We’re still putting the final touches on them,’ said Harriet Harty, Allstate executive vice president for human resources. “But it will be a combination of new jobs, as well as what I would say current employees, so we’re still putting the final touches on what those actual jobs are going to be. Let’s just say there’s no shortage of possibilities.”(continued)

Poor Charlotte is so built up, with so much sprawl, that it will look like New Jersey in a couple of years.

I was a loyal customer of Allstate ever since I was 18 years old and am now 62.

Had car insurance, home insurance with them for decades and decades.

Then one day I get a letter from them notifying me that they would no longer insure my home. Just cancelled. Period.

I had never had a claim against them for anything.

Not even a thank you for all the thousands of dollars I had given them over the years.

To hell with them..................

They are probably moving to influence bathroom policies in NC. They are one if not the biggest promoter of anti-Biblical sexual practices in the US. Look up Matt Barber and Allstate. I also had similar indcident with them over standing strong on the Bible while working for them.

When we had Republican governors, there were rarely any stories in the paper about jobs coming to the state that mentioned the governor. Now that we have a Democrat governor, it’s all over the news.

IMO? It's because Cooper is elbowing people out of the way to get in front of a camera and get some credit. McCrory was content just to do his job.

I had high hopes for Cooper, liked a lot of the clean up he did initially as DA - taking Nifong out behind the woodshed was an excellent start. Too bad that he - like so many other good men - got corrupted by the process.

Why do you say all insurance is a rip off?
