Chisel the damn thing off. I’ve always hated that stupid poem. You want to read patriotic ‘poetry’ that matters? Read our founding documents and then show me where we’re compelled by our founders to let third world immigrants over run our country.

The ignorance about that poem will, evidently, never end. The poem is not part of the statue, it is merely a plaque placed on it, unofficially, about twenty years after it was presented to the United States by France. Statue has nothing to do with immigration. The plaque can be removed, chiseling is not necessary.
I would have the last sentence read “This is Liberty’s home.”
With that, I would chisel Lazarus’ execrable socialist abomination from Liberty’s pedestal and replace it with this post haste.
Sounds like a NRA tagline.
Replace E. Lazarus with the Apostle Paul;
2nd Thessalonians 3:10 “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you: that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
We do not legislate based on poems inscribed on statues.
Inscribe this:
America: If you intend to turn America into an *slamic hell hole, get the f*ck out. If you intend to take our money and give nothing in return, get the f*ck out. If you want to change America into a fascist totalitarian oppressive marxist hell hole, get the f*ck out.
I would be happy to chisel it.

Its funny.
People think the poem on the Statue is “law.” Its a frickin’ poem. And most people know one stanza or one line from it.
Americans today are pretty much functional morons.
Thats funny.
