I’d like a return to “you have to own real estate to vote”. Nothing fancy. Even a half acre in Appalachia will do.

People who own real estate have a vested interest in seeing their community prosper. If the community doesn't prosper, the value of their holdings go down.

Meanwhile, renters can just move elsewhere after they have done damage to their current community.

People who own real estate

What minimum area of real estate would you require? Is the prospective voter required to actually maintain a residence or business on it?

Yep. Bottom line is that all voters should have skin in the game. And I don’t mean skin in the game of getting free stuff.
