The United States will have no choice but to take devastating military action, says Graham
A Republican senator said on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump has told him he would go to war to destroy North Korea rather than allow it to develop a long-range nuclear-armed missile.
Influential lawmaker Lindsey Graham, a foreign policy hawk, told NBC's Today Show:
"There is a military option: To destroy North Korea's program and North Korea itself."
Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un boasted that his country could now strike any target in the United States after carrying out its latest intercontinental ballistic missile test.
World powers have been trying to stifle Pyongyang's weapons programme through United Nations-backed sanctions, but have failed to daunt the regime and Washington is growing frustrated.
Graham said that if diplomacy, and in particular pressure from the North's neighbour China, fails to halt the program then the United States will have no choice but to take devastating military action.
"They've kicked the can down the road for 20 years. There will be a war with North Korea over the missile program if they continue to try to hit America with an ICBM," he said, describing his discussions with Trump.
"He's told me that. I believe him. If I were China, I would believe him, too, and do something about it. You can stop North Korea, militarily or diplomatically.
"I prefer the diplomatic approach. But they will not be allowed to have a missile to hit America with a nuclear weapon on top."
And he’s get better advice. :)
Unless Trump wanted linda to tell the world.
Yes, Linda, President Trump will drop the big one on Pyongyang and King Tubby, but guess who gets to ride the missile, sugartits ?
lol
This war has been a long time coming and is none of Trump’s doing. He just happened to be president when it couldn’t be put off any longer.
like that scene from The Naked Gun :)
It’s almost, nay actually impossible, to imagine the oppression and degradation of the NK populace. I say it’s a crime that the international community has chosen to overlook this for half a century, and has allowed China to exploit this abomination for all these decades with impunginity.
Trump, at least and at last, is showing some kind of reaction to this outrage.
If Trump advocates Plan A, then you can bet Plan B is underway.
Remember the original Axis of Evil from 2001 Bush speech?
Iraq - past
Syria - present
North Korea - future
We target all of North Korea's Military weapons with the help of South Korea
Destroy every weapon they have before they can launch anything
How hard is it to destroy a hermit nation?
This isn't Russia or China that we are taking on!
North Korea is China’s creation, and special tool and pet, in my estimation. My amazement is only that this remains unrecognized for all these years.
Actually North Korea was Stalin’s creation.
Trump must have left Lindy a voicemail mesg on his cellphone.
They might even help us out & make it even easier lol
“They might even help us out & make it even easier lol”
What on Earth would make you think that?
Well, along with Communist China, I suppose.
I stand ready to be corrected and educated on the relationship of China and NK.
China needs us a lot more than they need NK. Their entire economy depends on selling us stuff, and getting back what they’ve invested here at some point. That’s why they screamed so loudly yesterday that there’s “no connection” between trade and NK.
As much as I dislike Graham, even a stopped clock...We’re running out of non-military options for North Korea. They’re led by a man with only a tenuous grasp of reality, a man who just had his own brother murdered in an airport. We can’t leave him in place with the ability to menace the entire West Coast of the United States with nuclear-tipped ICBMs.
I was thinking Slim Pickens in “Dr. Strangelove.” Yeehaw.
