Twenty-one cities, several of them sanctuary cities, have pledged to make one million immigrants American citizens by the end of 2017.
The Naturalize Now initiative is aimed at preventing illegal immigrants from deportation under the Trump administration. President Trump is not against legal immigration, but has promised to crack down on illegal residency in the U.S., especially of criminals.
The cities include New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; Seattle; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Jersey City, NJ; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; Pittsburgh, PA; and Tucson, AZ.
Mayor Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles and other progressive elected officials have joined in the path to citizenship effort.
"We celebrate our independence on July 4, and honor the values of freedom, justice, unity, and equality that make us who we are," Garcetti said....

If cities had the power to naturalize illegal aliens they would have done so long ago.
All naturalization’s should be halted for the time being.If you’ve got a Green Card that’s fine...you can keep it as long as you obey *all* the rules.But no citizenship.
1. We naturalized nearly 800,000 new citizens last year so reaching around 1 million this year may be achievable.
2. Are they proposing they will naturalize an additional 1 million?
3. If so, we don’t have the manpower for a 100% increase and your claim is bogus as well as baiting.

Cities can’t grant citizenship to anyone. Only the federal government has that power.

Interestingly enough, there is no mention of the Rule of Law in that statement. Without the Rule of Law, those other ideals are all meaningless.
The real plan has always been to get them voting... For democrats.
All of these cities are run by liberals. So what if these people are going vote for them...they're going to win city elections anyway so there will be no effective difference!
They already vote. In most states a person gets a voter registration form when they get a driver’s license. Who checks if they are a citizen when they register? When there are voter registration drives nobody checks if the person registering is a citizen or if they really are who they say they are. Fraud is widespread and systematic. Its how the Democrats win.
In any event, there is a ten-year wait in the process - for most countries before the applicant even comes up for an interview with INS. So I don't see how this can be done legally.
The putrid seditionists in charge of these cities should be arrested.

its no magic wand event...or Make a Wish...or Mexican DREAM come true...
one glaring thing missing would be the Alien Registration Card with its number...
that number moves to the upper right hand corner of the naturalization document..AKA green card...(it used to be green)
Without it there is no citizenship...that number starts when you first immigrate and follows you for the rest of your life..its on all documents ...
an illegal alien doesn’t have an Alien Registration Card with the vital number...
the naturalization document also has its own number ...its on the upper left hand corner and its called a “Petition No”...the January I became a citizen my number was in the 30,000 area..but that was 40 years ago...
Petition as in its not an automatic occurrence...you have to petition as in apply..
You have to have a green card with that necessary number...
You go for an interview where every document pertaining to you, from the ones gathered together by the American Embassy/Consulate back in your own country BEFORE you entered the US and the ones filled in since you have arrived are present and you go through them with the immigration official to make sure they are still valid and correct...
Illegal aliens don’t have any of those documents..
then you are given a test to make sure you can speak, read and write English...
Then you are asked several oral questions on American government etc...
Your behavior while you have ben in the US is examined any police records or crimes ??? Have you obeyed the rules for immigrants ??? The INS/ICE have already checked all that ...
Your current address which is annotated on the naturalization document better be the one the INS already have on file...
Then you are given a date about a month later when there will be a naturalization ceremony...Mine was at a US District Court ...
The words on the naturalization document include “had in all other respects complied with the applicable provisions of such naturalization laws, and was entitled to be admitted into citizenship, thereupon ordered that such person be and (s/he) was admitted as a citizen of the United States of America...”
so where would illegal aliens fit into those words ???
Ya notice that while I was “entitled” to become an American citizen due to fulfilling ALL the requirements/provisions, citizenship is not a “right”..
I had to “earn’ it...I had to be the type of person qualified through my behavior, employment record, etc to benefit the US in order to immigrate and eventually become a citizen...
I had to swear that I understood the requirements and what was expected of me..the promises were all on my side...the nation of the United States of America promised me nothing other than they would let me in because I qualified..
That’s what immigration is..nobody has a “right” to go to another country to stay..nobody has a right to even visit here...otherwise we couldn’t keep anybody out..
That’s why it is so important to weed out the ones who really aren’t “refugees”
and that’s why this wont work..
ILLEGAL ALIENS are not IMMIGRANTS...
Why naturalize them?
They already vote by the millions as illegals.
Virginia is now a blue state because of non- citizen voting, especially in democrat run counties and cities in Northern Virginia when non-citizens who vote number in the hundreds of thousands. That’s why McAuliffe doesn’t want the truth to come out and is blocking the Presidential Commission on Vote Fraud
