BOSTON (AP) A prominent Irishman who lived illegally in Boston for years has been deported, closing a case that has generated fear and anxiety within the states sizeable Irish expat community.
John Cunningham returned to Ireland on Wednesday night, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed on Thursday. The 38-year old electrical contractor had been in custody since he was arrested at his home on June 16.
Federal immigration officials have said Cunningham represented an enforcement priority because he overstayed a 90-day visa by more than a decade....

‘Tis a long way from Tipperary!
If they did share those values, they would be leaving the EU along with the UK. Nowadays, they have a homosexual prime minister though, among other abominations, though they havent yet legalized abortion (but that is probably on the way now too).
This is a man from an English-speaking country that shares our Anglo-Saxons values
Ask Ted Kennedy.
They are only deporting Mexicans, This is fake news/sarc
Because we still have immigration quotas set up by Leftist democrats that give immigration priorities to third world nations over Europeans.
Our immigration priorities are to promote Diversity not the furtherance of the general welfare of the nation.
Gee you mean Trump isn’t just being a racist? I hate these liberals. They have attempted to normalize every type of criminality, immorality and even treason. Of course illegals should be thrown out.
His problem was overstaying his visa. Why did he do this? I don't know. They make it pretty clear that this is a major no-no. Did he take any effort at making things right or did he just flip his middle finger at the system like everyone else does?
And then he goes on Irish television and brags up being an illegal in America. Kinda tells me he didn't really give s**t.
Probably thought he'd never get deported.
Buh-bye...another illegal gone, another win for America.
Laws are laws...
Are they being applied equally?
His significant overstay was cause and reason enough, ICE spokesman Khaalid Walls said...
My assumption is that the people who do not like the laws are going to apply them disproportionately if that’s what helps their position. This is unconstitutional, but hard to prove...
I lived in boston for a time - nearly every illegal alien from Ireland I ever met was a raging leftist.
“If this dude had found someone to marry...”
Just what I was thinking. He’s cute guy with a steady job in a town teeming with cute white women in their twenties. And he’s lived there for a decade! Why the devil didn’t he just get married?
Some don’t even overstay their visa. They go home twice per year for short vacations and look like (to customs) that they are perpetual tourists. They bartend, nanny, and perform various other under the table tax free jobs. They bank in the isle of wight and similar locations. Some claim to vote. This was more than a decade ago when I lived in boston. I’m sure it’s cleaned up by now /s
Why the hell did the Goobermint give him a contractor license for a Decade?!
“...find your way to an airport onto an airplane to Boston, you can go directly from the plane to an ambulance, to a Boston hospital...”
Don’t people need a visa, passport, or something to board the plane to Boston?
Illegals who want to say should go home and apply for legal entry and residence. Otherwise, I will cheer every time they are deported. And, like most real Americans, I don’t care if the illegal is Irish, Honduran, or Iraqi - deport them all.
This poor bastard goes back while tens of thousands of stone age Somali tribesman wander around in Minnesota and Maine. This is America?
His mistake was getting the 90 day visa in the first place.
Illegal = illegal, regardless of race, creed, color or nationality. This was a righteous deportation,
