As canna-business strategist Elise McRoberts walked across an animal skin rug and into the living room of a Pacific Heights home for the recent San Francisco launch of Beboe, an upscale cannabis brand from Los Angeles, she assumed she would see the usual faces on the marijuana circuit growers, dispensary owners and cannabis chefs.
Instead, the party was a cross-pollination of the worlds of high society, Silicon Valley, politics, fashion and design: industrial designer Yves Béhar, former Mayor Willie Brown, who carried decriminalization bills in the state assembly in the 1970s, philanthropists Katie and Todd Traina, boutique owner Emily Holt, salon-booking service founder Melody McCloskey, sustainable development designer Reed Woodson, venture capitalist Joshua Kauffman, yoga veteran Zander Gladish and social entrepreneur Gwendolyn Floyd, among others.
Im used to going to cannabis parties where I know everyone in the room, McRoberts said, but I only know one person here. Its most stylish and fabulous setting for a pot party Ive ever stepped into the type of party Ive always wanted.
That was just the way Beboe co-founders Clement Kwan and celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell had planned it. Kwan, a UC Davis grad who went on to work in luxury fashion (Dolce & Gabbana, Yoox), grew marijuana to pay his way through college. Campbells grandmother, Be Boe, fed his cancer-stricken mother pot brownies to assist with nausea during treatment.
Now that cannabis is recreationally legal in eight states and the District of Columbia, the two men see a niche for products that carry an air of respectability.....

So the potheads deny the outsized influence that soros has had on the rise of their gad and master the potleaf. Amazing.
I understand the thread is not about medical use. I’m just asking relevant questions because I am curious you & others quantify the term “pothead”.
I too partake of caffeine via a cup of tea in the mornings. I used to drink it all day every day. Oddly enough I stopped drinking so much tea after I began using cannabis medicinally :)
“So the potheads deny the outsized influence that soros has had on the rise of their gad and master the potleaf. Amazing.”
You throw terms like “pothead” around while being either unwilling or unable to define what makes a “pothead” while being unwilling or unable to prove Soros is behind the cannabis legalization movement in America.
Prove your claim, VT. Since you seem certain of what you claim, proving it should be simple. Let’s see it!
Good solution because pot smoke smells worse than smelly ass. But some potheads like to be in your face about it and are happy that their secondhand smoke is offensive to those around them. They are worse than cigarrete smokers.
Uh oh. Are some here trying to turn the term ‘pothead’ into a politically incorrect term?
Political correctness on FR. Yikes.
“Uh oh. Are some here trying to turn the term pothead into a politically incorrect term?”
Even for you that’s a weak dodge lol.
So tell us, VT. For you, what makes a “pothead”? Define the term “pothead”, if you can.
God Bless You Stickman! I read these threads and see you standing up for this wonderful substance. I have no problem with MJ, for any reason. I know many, many productive people who have used it for years (including myself). I tend to stay out of the argument because you just won’t convince people who are anti anything MJ, while probably having no problem with their nightly scotch, or their daily Xanax. I know people who worked for Boeing for 30+ years (while smoking on a daily basis) and are now retired. I could go on and on but I won’t. I’m sure some freepers will now call me a liar, especially about the Boeing part, but I just don’t care anymore. Flame away. I’d rather hit my vape than take a pill, any day. And for any anti-ers who wish to argue with me, save your time. I’ll be spending the day burning brush and helping hubby re-roof the house my Mom used to live in (at our expense, that we built for her to live in during her last 14 years of life before she passed away last December...yeah, that’s the kind of stuff us ‘stoners’ do...take care of our family, oh my!). You have a GREAT day, and keep up the good fight!
Wow, Team Pothead’s leader, namely soros, is pushing for global totalitarianism, which you assert to be true, and you’re more concerened about totalitarian nations of the past?
You need to straighten out your priorities! :)
Thank you for the encouragement, Mama Shawna. If someone has told me 10 years ago I would be a cannabis user of any kind I would have thought they were insane lol. I’ve always believed cannabis should be legal to use, have & grow & I believe that is a conservative position to have.
If folks don’t want to use cannabis, fine. That’s in keeping with the Constitution & I’m all for it! What I don’t understand is the irrational hatred some folks express here on FR towards those who do use cannabis. When pressed they cannot or will not put forth a logical argument to validate their hatred, dislike, scorn, contempt for people who use cannabis.
Thank you, again and I hope you have a great day everyday :)
Wow, you moved the goalposts like a solid CNN panelist lol.
Basically, you’re just a troll VT & completely uninterested in a give & take discussion.
You’re like the MSM, VT & that’s not a compliment.
The potheads must be so proud that their two 'highest'-achieving teammates (namely bill clinton and brak homobama) were such dismal failures when they got so 'high' in the nation's hierarchy.
Then you should try to censor me. :)
“Then you should try to censor me. :)”
Naw, I’ll just laugh like I do when Don Lemon or Jake Tapper says anything & ignore you. Tis’ the best way to deal with trolls, IMO.
Great post, Mama Shawna, fully agree with your POV! I lost my wife to cancer last month and she got relief from edibles. I could give a crap to what the drug warriors think, I just don’t care. :-)
Now that cannabis is recreationally legal in eight states strange how homeless people increase too in same states.
Yup, for some weedwankers, pot is the most important thing, more important than having a home.
Very sorry for your loss. Peace be with you now & always.
Agree stoned and zoned is their utopia nothing else matters.
So the potheads deny the outsized influence that soros has had on the rise of their gad and master the potleaf.
Nowhere did I deny that Soros has an influence (as is his right under the First Amendment); I just noted its limits. And to say that legality for adults is the liberty-respecting policy is not to enthrone a "gad and master" - whether the substance in question is alcohol, tobacco, or marijuana.
Having little to leave behind, they migrate to those states. The more states legalize, the fewer pot migrants there will be.
