Canadian elite special forces sniper makes record-breaking kill shot in Iraq and the distance is astronomical.
Movies and Hollywood have made snipers a folklore and myth that brings fear into the minds of their enemies.
But this sniper shot is 100% real and it is unbelievable to comprehend.
A sniper with Canadas elite special forces has obliterated the world record for the longest confirmed kill shot ever. An other wordly distance of 3,540 meters long. That is 2.19964 miles away. Let your brain think on that one for a little bit. Read the rest of the longest shot story here.
Supposedly they used this tool to get the necessary elevation without the scope angle interfering with the barrel

That's some mighty fine shootin' there!.....................
That terrorist’s head would look good stuffed, mounted, and on display in the sniper’s living room. It would be a great conversation piece.
The Canadian sniper team consists of four people.
1. The sniper
2. The spotter
3 & 4. Two guys who go ahead of the bullet with brooms sweeping the ice.
Rather than saying that the bullet “took less than 10 seconds to reach target”; I’d point out that the bullet took nearly 10 seconds to reach the target. That’s nearly 10 seconds for the wind and “other factors” to affect the bullet’s trajectory.
Or for the target to move. I would say the shot took incredible luck to have happened.
I think Canadians call their bullets “kettles”.
Odd caption “bullet took less than 10 seconds [to hit the target]”
I find it amazing to consider such a shot has to take into account a bullet drop of something like (and don’t quote me) 80 feet.
I am no sniper expert. I was usually an M-60 or SAW gunner in the Army, but I think 10 seconds is a pretty long time and the perfect shot with every variable falling into place.
Yeah, but it would be a 4 mile round trip for the dog to retrieve the kill.
My thought as well. 10 seconds is an eternity in bullet years.
“Windage” LOL.
I can’t even fathom seeing something 2 mi away.
Oh, that’s right - asterisk - *these guys have special scopes complete with zoom.
Not as hard as doing it naked eye like the old days. ;-)
Yeah. The target must have been on the toilet when he got shot. That’s the only way he would have been still that long.
OK. I only shoot 30-06 out to about 750 yards.
How, exactly, does one take into consideration the curvature of the planet in making long distance rifle shots?
There is an app for that. I do not kid. iPhone or Android.
The bullet path doesnt have to be a great circle as compared to the earth. Thats what your levels are for. Cant aim off for bullet spin, etc....
I mean, he shot him with a rifle and had to see him when he shot him AND he did have to make sure that no part of the earth got in the way before the bullet hit the target, right?
I’m just being critical. Still pleased as punch that I can hit 500yds.
It was a .50 cal rifle. If it was a head shot, there wouldn't be much left to stuff & mount. Just kibbles and bits for the local stray dogs.
See there. I just showd my age. I was taught to figure all that crap out.
