Vladimir Putin to Corporate America: You should 'help' President Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin has a message for Corporate America: Help President Trump.

"Help us restore normal political dialogue," Putin told executives from major U.S. companies during a business roundtable at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.

"I ask you on behalf of Russia, and I appeal to the American side: Help the newly elected president, the head of the United States administration," he said.

Putin's audience included senior executives from Boeing (BA), Caterpillar (CAT), Chevron (CVX), Philip Morris (PM) and Honeywell (HON).

Relations between Russia and the U.S. have been in sharp decline since 2014, when Western powers reacted to Moscow's annexation of Crimea by slapping sanctions on the country.

Allegations that Russia meddled in the U.S. presidential election in 2016 have further strained the relationship. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller is now leading an investigation into Moscow's actions, including potential collusion between President Trump's.....

The Russian economy is a basket case.

Russia’s per capital GDP is less than Greece. Yes, the World Fact Book has Russia's GDP slightly lower than Greece's. Still their data seems funky in some ways. For instance, Ireland is listed as having a $10,000 higher per capita GDP. But when I visited Dublin a few years back the average citizens lives no where near the standard of the US. Japan is a safe and prosperous country way down the list of high GDP countries.

Russia has many other problems that will prevent the country from becoming a nation that is economically relevant.

First, their birth rates are flat and they have one of the highest abortion rates in the world. From there, life expectancy for males is 64.7. That is a life expectancy the same as Mongolia.

From there, Russia has a murder rate that is far higher than the United States.

Now, look around your house. You have products made in the USA, China, Mexico, Canada, India, German, UK and France.

Name one consumer good in your house that was made in Russia.

You are not going to buy a car from a Russian car company, you are not going to buy a computer made in Russia.

There is nothing for Russia to build their economy on.

Russia is a third world nation with nukes.

That’s all they are.

While I was fighting the Cold War, I never dreamed, that in my lifetime, I would have more respect for the Russians, than for the EU.
