Its quite a sight. We have sailed both ways,, were ready to do a east to west panama canal cruise this fall but are holding off as we explore new living options instead. besides I hate moskitters., like tiny flying pirahnas

Carter thought he could solve the Arab-Israeli conflict by creating a Palestinian homeland.
The best suggestion I recall from that period was to dig a big moat on our southern border (to stop illegal immigration), and use the dirt to create an island which would become the Palestinian homeland.

How we would do it today. I actually recall some consideration of using nukes and shaped charge technology to create a sea level canal.
