If establishment elites succeed in impeaching and removing President Trump, it will set a disastrous precedent for the nation. Whoever replaces Trump would be too intimidated to resist the steamrolling carnage of the effete snobs.
In the late 1960s, Vice President Spiro Agnew used the phrase effete snobs to characterize establishment elites who considered themselves so superior that others should kowtow to their demands and opinions. Agnew was roundly criticized for this unfavorable description of the self-anointed powers inside the Beltway. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton was not criticized when she sarcastically dismissed Trump supporters, those residents of Americas heartland, as a basket of deplorables. Today, many of us believe effete snobs is an apt description of Washington insiders, and we also believe that those insiders concur with Mrs. Clintons put down of heartland Americans.

Before I live my life on my knees, kissing the filthy posteriors of such as they, I will die on my feet, rightfully spitting into their sneering faces. I do not, never have, and most importantly, never will acknowledge these effete snobs as superior in any way shape, or form to me, for, factually, they are not, no matter what criteria they attempt to use to make their fever dream a reality...

It was “...effete corps of impudent snobs..”
And it was all written by Buchanan.
Loud loons of liberalism.
Was it Buchanan? I thought it was William Safire.
I saw Buchanan on TV take credit for “nattering nabobs of negativism,” and “effete corps of impudent snobs.” I thought he wrote the whole speech. Agnew delivered it in Des Moines, IIRC.
Safire wrote for Nixon. Did he wrote for Agnew?
