Growing up, I never thought I’d be a cop. I thought pilot, or military of some sort but Asthma kept me from that. Oddly it didn’t keep me from a badge and a gun. 23 years now, go figure. Looking forwrd to the day when i’m just a schmoe again. But 25 years of this means I’ll never see things like most people do.

You sound like the future version of my seventeen year old. He’s wanted to go into the military since he was quite young. But asthma. He’s been in the local Police Explorers for a few years and just returned from a conference/skills competition. It confirmed just how much he wants to go into law enforcement.
I wonder what his view will be in a couple of decades.
