The bloodshed continued in Chicago this week, with eight people wounded in shootings since Wednesday and more than 1,000 people already shot so far this year.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported the most recent shooting took place in the Woodlawn neighborhood on Wednesday night. According to Chicago Police, a 35-year-old man was shot from a passing car while standing on the street. The man suffered gun shot wounds in the left hand and right ankle and was later stabilized at a local hospital.
A 28-year-old woman was also shot in the incident, suffering gunshot wounds to both thighs and her right foot. She was later treated and stabilized at a local hospital.
Earlier this week, on the 115th day of 2017, Chicago passed the 1,000 mark for number of people shot in the city so far this year, according to Sun-Times data. At least 174 people were killed in the shootings.
That total does not include four people that were shot by police officers and 10 people who shot themselves by accident.
The data shows that most shootings, approximately 88 percent, have occurred on the south and west sides of the city. The west side Austin neighborhood has seen the most gun violence, with 124 gunshot victims.
So far this year, 18 people have been shot who are 14-years-old or younger. Two-year-old Lavontay White was the youngest victim, killed by gunfire in February.
Former President Barack Obama, on a two-day visit to Chicago that began Sunday, met privately with at-risk young men on the South Side to talk about gang violence, jobs skills and employment, a spokesman said.

I fear they will miss their 3,000 annual victim goal, at this rate.

What is the goal they are shooting for? I need the target number concerning the caliber of crime in Chiraq.
At a rate of 1000 in four months, they’re right on track to hit 3000 for the year.

Well, according to http://heyjackass.com/, there were 958 shootings same time last year, so, obviously, more gun laws need to be enacted.

Just think how much it is costing taxpayers to pay for their medical care. It is easy to say it might be 50 to 100k per. ER and ICU and rehab.
We can thank Rham for this, he’s so politically scared that he won’t allow the CPD to its job.

Wait for those numbers to multiply when warm weather approaches.
Out of 184 homicide victims, 6 were white, 25 hispanic and the rest were black. Yet try to have a conversation with a liberal about black violence and they’ll call you a racist. Note the city is approximately 1/3 black, 1/3 white, 1/3 hispanic.
Dodge City was never anything like this.

Chicago now has a solve rate of less than 20% for homicide. There’s a great tracking site call Hey Jackass that tracks chicago murders.
Another shooting at noon today, only one street over from my daughters condo in Uptown.
The fabric of civilization has all but unraveled in Chicago and other big cities.
