Bend, Ore. – Ibex Global, which employs about 500 people at a Bend call center, is planning to double that number this year, a company recruiter said Thursday.

Ibex provides customer support for four brands that it declines to identify. Two are telecommunications companies; one is in motor sports, and one is a medical company, according to John Schweiter, lead recruiter for Ibex Global in Bend.

Ibex Global, based in Washington, D.C., and formerly known in Bend as iSky, is a subsidiary of privately held TRG, based in Pakistan, said Rosemary Hanratty, Ibex senior director of marketing.

According to news accounts online, Ibex call centers provide customer support for Mobilink, the largest telecom provider in Pakistan, and has had as clients U.S. firms such as DirecTV, AT&T and Apple.

The company has space to fill inside its building at 501 SW Hill St., near the Old Mill District.

The full-time jobs pay $12 per hour after training, or $25,000 annually, and come with a 401(k) plan and health insurance plans tiered by cost, along with paid vacation.

Applicants may come to the company offices on SW Hill Street or find further information on the company website: www.ibexglobal.com/careers.php.

The hiring surge is a long term commitment, not part of a temporary contract, according to the company.

A workforce of 1,000 would make Ibex, which employs 15,000 in 24 locations worldwide, one of Bend’s largest employers. St. Charles Health System employed more than 3,000 people across Central Oregon in 2016, according to Economic Development for Central Oregon. Among call centers, Consumer Cellular in Redmond employed 580 in 2016, according to EDCO. Navis, in Bend, which handles bookings and data analysis for resort destinations, employed 217, according to EDCO.

Median home value in Bend is over $350,000. Pardon me if my scoffing is too loud.
