The Awesome Kel-Tec SUB2000 Gen2 9mm
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 4/4/2017 | J Hines

Youtuber James from TFB TV gets to review the Kel Tec Sub 2000 sub-rifle. This model is the 2015-new "Gen2" variant which has several upgrades over its very popular predecessor, which James discusses fully in this video.

The SUB2000 folds completely in half and uses popular pistol magazines such as Glock 17 magazines. Because the Generation 2 SUB2000 has a threaded barrel, James gets to try it out with his Advanced Armament Evolution-9 silencer. How does the generation Gen2 stack up to the first generation model?, take a look at the Kel-Tec Sub200 here.

Damn straight! Every once in a while someone here says, “Oh, there are three at the gun shop down the street!” I can never find any - even at large sellers at Bud’s Guns or Impact Guns.

I have a gen 1 in 40...one of the handiest guns I’ve ever owned and with some practice keeping an identical hold on it the sights become unnecessary for anything larger than 6” or so out to 100’ or so in my experience-—it points that well for me.

Looks like there’s about 60 of them on gunbroker.com right now.

Excuse me for trying to hijack the thread, but . . . this thread is likely to attract the right people.

Any thoughts on the SilencerCo Maxim 9, their 9mm pistol with an integral suppressor under the barrel, so the length is normal? I like shooting with a silencer, and I’m considering the Maxim, either now or after they have a couple years to work out the kinks.

Double on this. I wanted to order one a couple of years ago. The gunshop in town refused to order it. They have a bunch on order and it was taking 2 years to get delivery (even though they have been told 6 months by the factory). They said they were not taking any more orders until the factory worked out their delivery problems.

I have seen a few (maybe 4 or 5 in the last 5 years) on gunshow tables in .40 S&W, but I have only seen one in 9mm for Glock magazines. It was priced at &1,200, about three times its factory retail price at the time.

They have designed a number of innovative guns. Too bad they cannot produce them in reasonable quantities.

As AFSNCO pointed out, there are lots of them on Gunbroker, if you want it in .40 cal using S&W M&P mags.

Ones in 9mm using Glock magazines are a bit more rare, even on Gunbroker. Expect to pay over list price for one of the 9mm Glock versions.

Any thoughts on the SilencerCo Maxim 9

What would be your intended use? It really isn't all that much shorter than a pistol with a SilencerCo Osprey can, and you'll have to wait the 9-12 months for your tax stamp to clear before you can pick it up.

If you purchase a quality pistol with threaded barrel, you can have that right away while you wait for the stamp to clear for the can, and will end up paying less in the long run.

But if you have the money and the patience, I say go for it.
