Ryan: 'Obamacare is the law of the land'
POLITICO ^ | March 24, 2017 | Madeline Conway

After withdrawing his health care bill from the House floor in an embarrassing defeat, Speaker Paul Ryan said Friday that “Obamacare is the law of the land” and will remain so “for the foreseeable future.”

“I don't know what else to say other than Obamacare is the law of the land,” Ryan told reporters shortly after House Republicans canceled a planned afternoon vote on their alternative to Barack Obama’s 2010 health care reform law.

“It's gonna remain the law of the land until it's replaced,” Ryan continued. “We did not have quite the votes to replace this law. And, so, yeah, we're going to be living with Obamacare for the foreseeable future.”

Incompetent clown.

How hard is it to simply repeal a bad law?

the corrupt establishment wins either way with how it turned out.

Yep. They knew it was going to be a tough one to win. Too bad they didn't take the time beforehand to make sure it was the correct fight to fight.

Of course he is correct. The failure of the GOP to reach a consensus on a plan to repeal and replace has consequences. In the meantime, the Dems will work with Trump and some Reps to fix the problems with Obamacare.

New poll shows Americans want to fix Obamacare, not end it, while Koch groups push for full repeal

Fully 68% of Americans want to keep what works and fix the rest, while just 32% prefer the GOP's repeal and replace approach, according to polling from Hart Research. Moreover, the polling showed most Americans — including 54% of President Trump's voters — have a favorable view of the Medicaid system, which would face steep cuts under the Republican plan.

Which version? The one passed by Congress? Modified by SCOTUS? Decreed by Obama?

You’re a loser Ryan. You may be a “policy wonk” but you’re a poor strategist and show no leadership.

The big problem is that most of the GOP house members are afraid to undo the Medicaid expansion. It is as simple as that. That was the elephant in the room that Obama put in. And too many GOP governors took the bait (like Kasich).

So, when asked, Trump said he thinks Ryan should remain on as Speaker. Was that after this bill was pulled, or did Trump say this, this morning?

I still believe Trump was using Ryan as the biggest Useful Idiot ever.

You may be right. RyanCare is obamacare lite garbage. I don’t believe it’s what Trump wanted. But Ryan has had his turn and it crashed and burned.

Unfortunately, I believe people need to feel a little more pain because of obamacare. It is no doubt crashing but more people need to see it crash. When that happens, there will be a real demand for replacement. Trump can then say that DEMOCRATS NEED TO SHOW HOW THEY CAN FIX IT OR WE HAVE TO REPEAL IT.

Hopefully it will be something better than the junk Ryan was pushing.

It's gonna remain the law of the land until it's replaced

What happened to "Repeal". Unfortunately, the speaker seems to believe that the government is the ultimate solution to all problems and that without a supremely crafted federal law, people will not be able to get health care. Or is it the fact that he fully understands that the issue is not health care at all but really about protection of the health insurance industry.
