Mexico's government on Tuesday warned Mexican companies that it would not be in their best "interests" to participate in the construction of U.S. President Donald Trump's border wall, though there will be no legal restrictions or sanctions to stop them if they tried.
While some Mexican companies stand to potentially benefit from the controversial infrastructure project, residents south of the border view the wall and Trump's repeated calls to have Mexico pay for it as offensive. That is putting public pressure on firms to abstain from participating.
"We're not going to have laws to restrict (companies), but I believe considering your reputation it would undoubtedly be in your interest to not participate in the construction of the wall," said Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo.
"There won't be a law with sanctions, but Mexicans and Mexican consumers will know how to value those companies that are loyal to our national identity and those that are not," Guajardo added.
His comments echo those of Mexico's foreign minister Luis Videgaray, who said on Friday that Mexican companies that see a business opportunity in the wall should "check their conscience" first....

Took the words right out of my mouth...
How funny! Northern Mexico aka California; is saying the same thing. Same mindset politically I guess.
This does beg the question; how does California remain one of these great United States when it is no longer united with the states?
BUT BUT BUT. According to politicia s Mexico sends their best and brightest here to rebuild our economy. Why wouldn’t Mexico want to prevent their best and hardest working citizens from leaving?
Maybe now Mexicans know how people in Guatemala feel about Mexico's own southern border wall?
I am offended that Mexicans are offended that we do not indentify as being Mexican. It is not 1800 anymore
Mexico needs to work on Mexico so that Americans want to move there.
As far as relations with the US go, I would argue that it is in Mexico’s best interest to not only have the wall, but to take steps to stop the outflow of illegal migrants to the US.
We know that Mexico uses the US as a dumping ground for its intractable poor and criminal class so that it doesn’t have to deal with them. We also know that Mexico receives a lot of money sent by the illegals who actually do work. However, using the US in this manner does not make us very happy with Mexico and no doubt colors our relations with all Mexicans. How long until we say that we’ve taken enough abuse from Mexico, and say we don’t want to conduct *any* economic activity with them?
Drug Cartels Warn Mexican Government That Mexican Companies Best Not Participate In Building Wall Or They Will Cut Off Their Heads and Murder Their Children.
Fixed the headline.
Who wants them, anyway? The SOBs will sabotage the wall.
That’s funny right there.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Political correctness rules the day in Mexico....liberal fascism is on a roll there.
PASS A LAW and enforce it? They can’t get there. Its not n your best interests, ( meaning that a cartel may visit you.)
The people of Mexico want the wall, so they can keep millions of South Americans from tramping through their country.
It will make it difficult for the cartels.
The wall is good for business.
And Donald Trump is selling the wall South of the border, where it has a vary good reception among the businesses there.Damned right its funny.
The best and brightest of Mexico aren’t leaving....nor have they been leaving since the mid-1990s. No one does surveys but I’d take a guess that out of every 1,000 who cross the border....fewer than 20-percent are Mexican, and most of those are dead-end situations with guys who have no education or qualifications except orange-picker or burger-flipper. The rest of the crowd are from El Salvador, Honduras, etc.
I think it was a mistake for Trump to ID Mexico as the sole cause of this border problem. There are at least a dozen countries contributing to this mess.
And why would that be? Mexico is a criminal enterprise masquerading as a country.
Apparently it’s part of their “national identity” to get out of the nation.
That may very well be 100% true.
But, those people are all coming through our border with Mexico; not through our borders with El Salvador and Honduras, etc.
We have no borders with anyone else on the south except Mexico.
If you believe the propaganda on the left (and like all good propaganda there is an element of truth to it) then the illegals streaming north have something to contribute to the US. Wouldn't it be better for Mexico and Mexican companies to have them stay there and well, help make Mexico a success?
We all know, even as the left turns a blind eye to it, that what's really coming north out of Mexico are drugs, cartels, criminals, sick, and yes, a few good people too. The real reason the so-called leadership in Mexico doesn't want a wall is they want to export criminals north to expand their criminal activities and increase their payoffs. They also like the non-assimilated illegals sending cash and resources back south to family left behind. Screw that, build the wall!
That’s why we need to build the wall on our border with Mexico.
So if Cemex USA wanted to help build it, they can’t? I’d tell them you will...Cemex is the Cement Company of Mexico and they might be the USA largest cement company...
