Only in America and other western countries do displays of patriotism and national pride appear to be branded as "racist" or bigoted, as students wearing patriotic attire at a local high school basketball game soon discovered.
The issue started during a basketball game between Valley High and Des Moines North High School. Some students from Valley High supported their team by wearing patriotic attire such as red, white and blue shorts and shirts.
On the surface nothing seems out of place. After all, why would wearing the flag of the country you're living in and displaying your patriotism be unacceptable? According to parents and coaches from the opposing team at North High School, which is a more "diverse" student body than Valley High, the displays of patriotism were extremely racist and xenophobic.
WHO-TV reports North HS Assistant Coach Morgan Wheat wasnt buying the claim that the students were just supporting their team and country by stating, Any normal person, any educated person can look at that and think what the hell are these kids thinking."
Kids are kids, I get it, but I do have questions. I want to know why.The students at Valley High were forced to apologize after showing their love for America, which is apparently offensive to refugees and immigrants at North High even though they are suppose to be a part of the very same country. The whole point of immigration is to become part of a new society that you now call your home, and since these migrants have chosen to abandon their home nations, its expected that they assimilate into a culture that they have decided to be a part of.The North HS b-ball squad is filled with players who come from refugee families, WHO adds.
Student leaders from Valley ended up hand-delivering an apology to Norths principal:
It has been brought to our attention that the decision by the Valley High School student section to wear U.S.A. apparel at our game last night was offensive to members of your community and fan base. We are deeply sorry if we have offended anyone in any way. We have traditionally dressed in such a fashion for great games such as the one last night. Everyone here at Valley has immense respect not only for your team and players but for your community as a whole. Please know that our intent was in no way to offend or demeanjust to support our own team in a way we have done before.
However, it appears many immigrants for some reason consider the American flag offensive, although showing pride for their nations of origin appear completely acceptable and encouraged.
It's important to note that the school with the higher percentage of refugees and immigrants, North High, lost the basketball game, 57-55, and I'd wage that some of them became bitter and decided to exaggerate reality by claiming the Valley High School fans were being racist. If the Valley High team had lost the game, I doubt the victorious North High students would be making an issue about their patriotic attire.
However, even a Valley High alum chimed in and considered the student's act to be "blatantly racist".
This is an example of BLATANT racism, said Ty Leggett, a Valley High School alum, on the Valley High School WDMCS Facebook page. ALL participating should have been pulled and banned from ALL VHS extracurricular events for the remainder of the year! As a parent, Id be mortified that my son or daughter thought this way, acted in this fashion and refrained from taking a stand against this 21st century inexcusable behavior!I've got news for Erin Ness Carter, if immigrants are offended by the American flag or American colors, then yes, they are clearly "less American" than those who respect and appreciate the country they are living in. America is the very same country that has provided immigrants with endless opportunities and a safe haven from war torn areas of the world, but that fact seems to have gotten lost among "progressive" politics.Erin Ness Carter, a mother living in the Iowan district, remarked that for the supporters of one team from a primarily white part of town to paint themselves as the team of the USA it strongly implies that the other team, the less white team, is less American.
Essentially what these alum and parents are saying is that if you are white, it is racist for you to wear red, white and blue. If you are a minority, it is completely acceptable and encouraged to display pride for a foreign nation, or even America, as long as you are not white.
Thankfully, some alumni from Valley High were able to see past the leftist jargon and came to the defense of the basket team's fans, according to WHO-TV.
Now we cant wear USA stuff without making someone upset? asked Melissa Fraas-Bader, another Valley High alum. Oh please .Unfortunately displaying national pride is no longer considered a moral, patriotic act in America or many Western countries, as immigrants are far more encouraged to display pride for their countries of origin than anything colored with the dreaded red, white and blue. This country is the United States of America and our country colors are red, white, and blue no matter what color of skin you have or what race you are, said Mallorie Paige Sander, a current Valley High student. The intentions to offend anyone by wearing USA themed clothing was no where in the thoughts of any of our student body, why would it be? We all live in America.
However, I have a feeling if an American citizen immigrated to Mexico or other nations and tried to wave an American flag at a sporting event, the outcome would not be at all pleasant.
Iowa I think, says IA in the pic
Did anyone actually apologize? I’d rather be hung by my neck than do that! Holy cow, I’d actually become quite violent.
Someone post some email addresses and phone numbers....

USA, USA, USA!!!
As long as the cuck “leaders” of these schools keep folding like this its only going to get WORSE.
Fight back if you are Americans!
The entire public school system in America needs to be burned to the ground. Every single administrator needs to be driven naked into the wilderness.
Period.

Invite ICE to the next gathering.
My one word response to this
AS-SI-MI-LATE
I’d like to see the day we have more ICE agents than illegal aliens. They wouldn’t cost the tax payer as much, either.
Should institute a bonus plan for agents. Make it a competition for who can deport the most illegals.
What? Maybe he’s a big Harlem Globetrotters fan.
You bet. You don’t want to hang yourself or get violent. It’s just annoying having to search an entire thread for the story. Nothing to get violent about. Maybe a nice warm glass of milk will help settle your nerves.
Er, story venue...
By the way, where is the outrage from all those so-called “good” teachers that everyone seems to know? ( cue the crickets!)
Answer: When the Marxists took control of nearly all aspects of the culture: Schools, The Media, The Arts, and in too many cases The Churches.
No respect for these kids if they apologized. The proper response is “you can go to hell”. Sad that kids no longer seem to have any balls or rebellion in them any more.
They’re being kept ignorant for a reason: Democrats thrive on it. Can you imagine their devastation if foreign students got the training to survive without Democrats?
I have a laser engraved flag on the back slide plate of my Glock 20. Good luck with trying to get it removed.
They’ve got to start saying #### you.
I dont know how old you are but I’m just about 50 and though that ain’t old, it’s not the generation that primarily has to stand up to this crap.
It’s gotta be the teens, 20 something and 30 somethings.
This place ain’t forever.
The maoists are in charge. Public humiliation was an effective tool they used to brow beat the masses into compliance.
We've tried to placate the fags, ragheads, atheists, black entitlement leeches, etc, and it doesn't work. "More" is never enough.
Here’s my apology:
“Go stuff it, you liberal pychopaths”!
