Illinois Is Prepared—for Zombies The state readies for an undead apocalypse while its financial situation grows worse.

Illinois’s state lawmakers are busy these days, but not with trying to reform the pension system or improve Springfield’s dismal bond rating. Instead, they’re moving to designate October 2017 as Zombie Preparedness Month.
This may sound like a joke, but it’s (un)deadly serious: A resolution adopted by the state House last month contends that “while a Zombie Apocalypse may never happen, the preparation for such an event is the same as for any natural disaster.” Residents are urged to “create a stockpile of food, water, and other emergency supplies that can last up to 72 hours.” Other items to have on hand in case of marauding zombie hordes: “medications, tools, electronics, sanitation and hygiene, clothing and bedding, important documents, and first aid.”
But what about the state’s fiscal apocalypse, which is not only happening right now but has plunged Illinois into a bona fide financial disaster? Illinois has gone 19 months without an annual budget, and the prospects are dim that the Democratic statehouse will pass one that Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner can sign. Meanwhile, the state has amassed $11 billion in unpaid bills—predicted to climb to more than $27 billion by the end of 2019.
Illinois is facing the worst pension crisis of any U.S. state, with unfunded obligations totaling $130 billion, according to the state’s Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability. That amounts to about $10,000 in debt for each resident.
Not only is the Land of Lincoln deep in the red, but it is already sucking its residents practically dry. For one thing, Illinois has the highest property taxes in the nation, a median rate of 2.67%, according to a study last year by CoreLogic.

Finally someone is doing something about this problem. It has worse consequences than global warming and if we love our children we will do everything possible to prepare for this.

Well it is good to know that the Obamazombies are recognized as a threat to the State of Illinois.
Fortunately here in northern MI we are by our very nature prepared for the Obamazombie apocalypse.
We don’t need the government to protect us from the problem THEY created...

I thought it was goofy when new zombie flicks had them running instead of shuffling along, and actually using reasoning instead of blindly following the scent of brains...then I realized the ZORTs (Zombie Outbreak Response Teams) that were LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) in the woods were actually preparing for something else...

Rauner needs to go. I'm not sure what the heck he is, but he needs to go.
Who should run? We should ALL run....out of the State of ILL-ANNOY!
I'm not sure the problems can be solved until Madiganistan has a new King-Lord-Master. We really don't have a Governor - we have a House-Speaker-Centric form of government. Start there.
I think that a good ticket would be State Sen. Kyle McCarter for governor and State Rep. Tom Morrison for lt. gov. McCarter already said that he won’t run for re-election in 2018.
