We fled in 2011. Our house value was sliding. We were retired and living on SocSec and some modest investments and an IRA. Calculating cost of living and running the graph, we would be bankrupt by 2020. I was born and raised in Connecticut. It was beautiful once. They ruined it. I shed a tear for what was. Sad.
We came to central North Carolina, and it saved us. We are nicely set up, and the money should last till The Big Bust — and then, I’ve been able to put some options by for that.
The less said, the better. But I AM a refugee. A TAX refugee. Damn them for what they did.
Everyone in the neighborhood knows who voted for Zer0 and this BassTurd. Make them pay your taxes and compensate for your house price. I am sure that those in the state can figure out a way to make the libs have a choice they can’t refuse.
We visited my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins a couple times a year in Stamford back in the mid fifties. CT was gorgeous then and prosperous. This is really distressing...I didn’t know how far the state had sunk.
My cousin and her husband retired to a lovely wooded condo community in Litchfield, they paid about $170,000 and about 5 years later started trying to sell to join their daughter now settled in North Carolina. Each year they lowered the price beyond what they had ever thought acceptable, and finally after 7 years they “sold” it for $25,000.
They took a terrible financial beating, and they are not well-to-do at all, but they are so happy and thankful that they are out!
North Carolina, while overpopulated, is still OK. Please be happy where you are and ignore the refugee victimhood.
As was I. In the 50s and 60s it was a near-perfect place, How did this situation happen? It seems the state has done everything wrong for the past 30 years or so. Someone speculated that the irreversible slide can be traced back to putting in a state income tax, the wrong reaction to the loss of manufacturing.
good for you, William.
the good guys are dying or moving away while the bad guys are coming in and breeding more commies. The remaing good guys are prisoners and should not be forsaken.
There is a new conservative black state senator, George Logan, who could be the governerial hope in 6-12 years if the illegals are removed.
I was born and raised in Stamford also. Loved the area back then and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. But a good business opportunity presented itself and I moved to Florida nearly 45 years ago.
Sad to watch a once great state turn into such a crap pile. You couldn’t pay me enough to go back there to live now.
