Laura Rozen @lrozen contact earlier said the personnel disagreement btw Adm. Harward & Trump was centered on McFarland. KT is very close to the Trump family
She was apparently non-negotiable, and Trump wanted her to stay as Deputy NSA. The expectation is that she will serve 2 years on the NSC
& then get appointed as Ambassador somewhere, she apparently wants Greece. Harward balked at the timeline
that is what relayed to me about why trump is set on keeping mcfarland in nsc for now

I called Bolton to replace Flynn and so’s some Freeper. But I changed it to Dick Cheney so libs would get a heart attack. This will do for now. Even Rumsfeld was scared of Bolton, and R hired him in the first place.
I agree with you 100%.
Yep. Bolton would be a great choice.
“Trump passed over his top choice for the #1 position because he was adamant about keeping McFarland in the #2 position and his #1 choice didn’t want that? “
Yeah, and Harward walking in making demands shows he wasn’t the caliber of person needed. He showed no respect. Besides, I’m not sure what made Harward so awesome that he expected the administration to accommodate him in such ways.
Will John Bolton and KT still come on RedEye or is Tom Shillue about to find out what happens to people who make fun of future NSA directors?
It would be interesting to find out more about his reactions to McCain’s rants.
Aye, bloodbath is coming. Remember in the old days of Bush that any decision which may cause outrage (basically anything, up to and including a national puppy and kitten day), would be subject to an indeterminate amount of time devoted to hand wringing and focus groups, while being blood bathed with a side of dripping contempt by the press due to incomprehensible quantities of indeciveness and weakness? Now Trump just makes a decision, executes it, then while talking to the press points at a tree and sais...”look!!! Squirrel!!!” And the press goes “squirrel!!!”
Think of a baseball manager who doesn't get to hire his own coaches, or a football head coach who has assistant coaches forced on him by the GM. I don't think that sort of scenario usually works out well.
Why would he pick someone with ties so close to the Bushes?
This Twitter thread you’ve posted is from 2 days ago.
Just today the president was interviewing at least 4 people for this position.
Not a done deal.
raff out roud
This is a good move by Trump. The future is bright.
Good point.
Uniparty, globalism?
I agree if she’s so great why not let her head it up. or he might just want to make sure he has an insider keeping the spooks honest.
I suspect there is nobody that McCain and Graham would rather see chosen for that position than Bolton. McCain and Graham have been very enthusiastic in praising him.
