He probably had reason to be in fear of bodily harm but he should have not stood around and jawed with them; should have left the area. Pulling it to intimidate is not a good idea. I it has to be drawn in self defense it will go band.
Disparity of Force legal precedents should have these charges thrown out.

He had every reason to believe they were going to do him bodily harm and an honest jury and judge will see it that way. Not sure there are any honest judges left in the 3 west coast states and no telling if he will get one of the 10 conservatives still living in Portland. The smart ones left long ago.
He didn’t fire the gun and he backed away the entire time until he felt safe enough. He should win this but again; look where it’s at.

He proved he was not in fear for his life by failing to retreat to safety after drawing his weapon. He basically made an open admission that he brandished his weapon to intimidate the crowd rather than in expectation of needing to defend his life with deadly force.
What a supreme jackass. What an idiot. What a maroon. I have our laws that see him go to jail for being an idiot, but he definitely aimed a loaded weapon at people who he had no intention of shooting, almost the polar opposite of being in fear for your life.

He had no reason to pull, and was obviously not in fear for his life as he made no attempt to escape.
I’d have convicted him too.
I carry everywhere, everyday. I can’t imagine doing something like this.
I remember James O’Keefe mentioning this case on his YouTube channel.
He should not have been arrested, charged, brought to trial, or convicted.
His first mistake was to place any confidence in the rule of law.
