Intel chief executive Brian Krzanich used a surprise Oval Office appearance Wednesday to announce a $7 billion investment in an Arizona factory that has sat empty since construction wrapped up three years ago.
The chipmaker said the factory, called Fab 42, will employ 3,000 when it opens in 2020 or 2021 - nearly a decade behind schedule.
The news suggests Intel is making progress in deploying a new production technology, called extreme ultraviolet (EUV), which will enable smaller features on its microprocessors....

In 3.5 years Rank and File Americans will be so happy at the job growth and annoyed with the behavior of the leftists Trump will carry 49 states.
Mainstream media will be silent on this. Let’s focus on a tweet about Ivanka and Nordstrom.
Warren is going to go on the warpath!
That is what they are so afraid of.
The diminishing power of their fake media has them downright terrified.
Xpoint Memory, I believe.
There’s been a lot of speculation about Intel’s buildup of unused foundry space over the past couple of years. The hope is its something big.
I can hear Donald...
What's the problem??
And what's the answer??
Get it done!!.....Ahead of schedule and below cost!!
Thats what America needs, jobs in factories that can hire from levels, you don’t have to be college trained.
What really pisses me off is all these hi tech companies saying they will lose skilled foreign workers!
We may be a bunch of slack jawed bacon eating, dog loving deplorables but by God at least we are Americans!
They’ll have to post REAL employment figures at some point or else we’ll have more workers than the eligible population.
When will the country learn that not everyone wants to be a rocket scientist or a social worker.
Hmmm. I wonder what state won’t vote for Trump?
Producing Stuff that is in high demand.
Exactly, many lack expensive degrees, many many just simply want a job, to do something that pays the bills, feeds the family. From high school dropouts to senior citizens there should be job opportunities, and NOT having to be in fear of being replaced by a foreigner.
Cueing Disney on that one,so bad!
This is how Intel works.
Fab RA3 in Oregon is probably close to delivering first real silicon on 7nm.
Now they need to get the production fab on 7nm ready.
Intel’s 14nm was very advanced and it took awhile to get the bugs out of the system.
I was there two weeks ago.
...and goodbye Oregon. I was living in Portland years ago when Intel was proposing a similar facility there and the local idiots were so short-sighted and anti-business that they killed the deal. Good to see the new plant instead go to Arizona.
So this is posted from The Oregonian. What about from The Arizona Republic or what ever the big paper is in Feenix.
Regards, Winning
I post them where I find them, unless they’re banned here, which the Arizona Republic is, being a Gannett paper.
