NEW YORK – French billionaire Bernard Arnault, proprietor of the luxury fashion conglomerate LVMH, announced Monday his intention to “expand” his factories in the United States following his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump.

In a statement to reporters upon leaving Trump Tower, Arnault said he considers building in the near future two new textile factories in this country, “possibly” in the state of North Carolina or in Texas.

The French fashion entrepreneur said his company has made Louis Vuitton products in California for more than 25 years, and due to the brand’s success, he’s going to expand the business in the United States.

“They’re going to do some wonderful things in this country,” Trump said about Arnault and his company after the meeting, adding the he’s going to create “jobs, a lot of jobs.”

Bernard Arnault is the owner of more than 60 world-famous brands including Loewe, Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Christian Dior, and is one of the richest men in the world, according to Forbes, with a fortune estimated at some $37 billion.

Americans are the best when it comes to making things. That’s what we do, we make stuff. We find better ways, we find more efficient ways, the stuff we make lasts longer

I’m so glad we are going to manufacture and build again. For everyone directly employed there are 10 others who get jobs to support that job. Truckers, mechanics, parts suppliers, grocery stores and on and on and on

We should be keeping a list of all this stuff somewhere. Trump has created more jobs before he assumed office than O’Bunghole has in the last 8 years.

I worked for LVMH in El Segundo CA at a shared-services accounting center. At that time they offered us a severance package to train workers from Singapore to take all our accounting jobs & move them over to S’pore.

I got 1 year severance package.

Worked out good for me as I went on to open my own CPA firm & no more working in a corporate cubicle.

If you think the winning is too much to bear now, just wait until Trump is actually in office. It’ll be downright excruciating.

Funny - I can't even get the thread through the eye of the needle.

No, I was the controller of a shared-services center (BS, corporate term.) Basically a big accounting office. We did accounting for all of LVMH's North American divisions. They had at that time LVMH, Sephora Cosmetics, Duty Free Shoppers (DFS) and a bunch of other on-line stores they were starting.

They were big into the H-1B visas too. We had around 6 accountants on the H-1B program.
