The University of Chicago’s admissions office is offering an incentive to its student tour guides: Come up with “a creative way to dispel the negative perception'” that the city is unsafe.
The Chicago Maroon obtained a copy of the email Assistant Director of Admissions Colleen Belak had sent out to the guides. The student who provided the message asked to remain anonymous due to a “confidentiality policy.”
In her email, Belak manages to toss in the name of the president-elect:
“If you’ve paid attention to the national news (or Donald Trump’s tweets) over the last few months, you’ll notice that the city of Chicago is often painted with a broad brush as an ‘unsafe’ or ‘scary’ place to reside,” Belak wrote to the campus tour guide listhost.

Because it’s the perception that’s the problem, not the violence.
$500 for propaganda to deceive potential students who my have noticed actual figures for Mayor Emanuel’s leadership in shootings and killings.
Force the South Side to succeed into its own incorporated area. Problem solved for Chicago proper.

I have a close relative working at U.Chicago. Hyde Park is what you would expect - an oasis of highly intelligent, highly creative, high income people associated with the University, as well as a high-income black middle class, surrounded by the poverty of spirit of a black inner city adrift in a post-modern leftist world.
The campus itself is absolutely safe - the University has a huge police force, and for obvious reasons, Chicago police also maintain a strong presence in the neighborhood of Hyde Park
Once again we see the common irony among leftists, that Obama, who embodies the ideology that has further destroyed the spirit of America’s inner-city residents, has chosen to buy a house in Hyde Park.
Maybe all those who perceived they were shot were mistaken...../s

Yeppers. If the gang bangers in Chicago all dropped dead one day the next day the rate of violent crimes would fall to a teeny fraction of current, to boring American heartland levels.

Arrest and prosecute criminals, removing their “rights” to welfare payments for a period of time while on probation. If a felony, remove welfare permanently.

And what if you factor out about a dozen or so neighborhoods of Paris, the "no-go" zones? Which city is safer then?
Agreed. I used to live in Chicago. And while the immediate area around the Univ. of Chicago, the Hyde Park area, is a nice area, this area is surrounded by bad neighborhoods.
I can imagine people visiting the campus, thinking of attending that university, thinking to themselves, is this university in a bad area, as they drive through some ghetto areas to reach the university???
