A state representative from Texas has considered introducing legislation aimed at celebratory gunfire after he was struck in the head by a bullet on New Years Eve.
Armando Mando Martinez was ringing in the new year in Weslaco when, just before midnight, he kissed his wife then felt a pain in his head that he said felt like he had been hit with a sledgehammer.
As it turned out, Martinez was struck in the head by a stray .223-caliber bullet, and according to Sgt. J.P. Rodriguez with the Hidalgo County Sheriffs Office, they believe the bullet likely came from a shot that was fired into the air.
Martinez was rushed to the hospital where surgeons removed the bullet, which punctured his skull and was mere millimeters from his brain. Martinez later told reporters it was only by the grace of God that he was having a conversation about the incident.
The sheriffs office is investigating the incident and Martinez said shooting celebratory gunfire into the air is something that needs to stop.

Yea poster #9 sort of triggered me with that harsh language.

My point was that “Libertarianism” is not a sufficient, all-purpose argument against each and every proposed law. Some laws are rational and just, and some aren’t.
The most offensive use of “Libertarianism” in this way (in part because it’s insincere) is the pro-abortion canard that “conservatives say they want smaller government, and yet they want the government in your bedroom.”
Of course, “smaller government” is not a rational argument against laws against murder.
True, even our news said not to fire guns into the air on New Year’s eve. We’d had an incident a few years ago, same thing, just not a legislator.
The people who inhabit these large dem controlled cities lack bran cells for intelligence.
It’s like shooting up in the air to stop a crook, shoot into the ground or a target you can hit if you can’t bring down the idiot. Guy was white haired, vision may have been an issue, it was slightly after dark, he was a trained carrier. Should have known better than to fire into the air.
