It was a simple Facebook post. And former Clinton Secretary of Labor Robert Reich got right to the point as headlined here in Mediaite:
Former Secretary of Labor Proposes Freedom Concert To Overshadow Inauguration
The former Secretarys post (full disclosure: Mr. Reich and I have been occasional sparring partners on CNN) read as follows:
Robert Reich on Sunday
The Trump people are upset that the only musicians willing to perform at the Trump inauguration are Kid Rock and Ted Nugent.
Someone just suggested to me a televised freedom concert to air at the same time as the inauguration with huge celebrities like Beyoncé and Jay Z, Madonna, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, and so on. Alec Baldwin MCs the event, playing Trump as he does on SNL.
Presto. The Trump inauguration loses all the TV ratings. Basically, no one watches it.
Even better, the proceeds of the freedom concert go to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Lambda Legal, NAACP, Common Cause, CAIR, IRAP, SPLC, Environmental Defense Fund, Human Rights Campaign Fund, MoveOn, Economic Policy Institute, Inequality Media, and GLAD....

I bet The Stones play for the inauguration.
If you like the sound of a tomcat getting a bikini wax, that is.
You are correct. Our country has been ravaged by these liberal foolslong enough.
The nouveau jetsetters just are not happy pampers these days. So, let ‘em stew; and see if Bocelli et al enjoy seeing their venues half full of a-holes.
yes... they should do that!!
(it’s like all the dumb kids you DIDN’T invite to your party decide they’re going to ‘show you’ by having a party of their own)
Good- it’ll keep them away from our party.
Reich is a malignant dwarf, who listens to him anyway.
Not American
Dear Little Reich,
I don’t care about concerts.
I care about governance.
Love,
Laz
“I bet The Stones play for the inauguration.”
That’s what I am thinking. “You can’t always get what you want” was Trumps anthem. Who better to play it at the inauguration but the artists who wrote the song.
Forget the silly concerts. . .how about having various fundraisers for the poor vets of our country instead. It would be worth attending no matter who was the entertainer. We just had a young man who just got out of the military go off a country bridge after hitting a slick spot and landed upside down in the water. Very sad. . .this was going to be his first Christmas with his children. . .no insurance.
This guy never has gotten over his height, or should I say lack thereof.
Hes an angry little elf.
Elves are sort of lovable, Reich is more of
a twisted dwarf.
I think his is more of a troll desperately in search of a bridge. Who needs to meet a Billy Goat!
Don’t worry. We’ll get even.
Once the ratings come in, Reich is going to need his safe space and Play Doh. But please, no Golden Retriever puppies; they’re too large and playful and might traumatize the little man.
I thought the Stones might play, too and mentioned it a while back, for the same reason you mentioned.
I heard yesterday that the Beach Boys are considering playing. I think Gene Simmons was on Celebrity Apprentice and he and Paul are both very good businessmen - I’d love it if KISS would play.
There were various musicians that were on Celebrity Apprentice - it wouldn’t surprise me if one of more of them played, such as Trace Adkins or Brett Michaels.
I want the Beachboys. American band, true Americana.
You’re right, Reich is horrible. Typical commie lawyer—”throw sand in the gears” by endless lawsuits, and he admits it. Sabotage, in other words.
