You might be able to turn CA from deep blue to light blue, but that’s as far as it will go. So many in this state are solidly left of center. Even in Santa Clara Co, home of Silicon Valley and a lot of money, the tendency is to vote DEM. Hillary received nearly 73% of the vote in this county (Trump less than 21%), and it’s nowhere near as liberal as the counties of LA, SF, Alameda, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz.
When a state becomes that lopsided on the liberal side, you know there are a lot of dirty politicians.
If the progressives in Congress give him a hard time through lawfare, impeachment et al ... Then I hope Trump cuts loose and starts investigating each and every politician in Congress.
I've got family there, and can vouch for what you say. That area of California is so far left-liberal, it seems like a foreign country to those of us from out of state.
Although I spent 50 years of my life in California (mostly in SoCal), my liberal indoctrination was easily broken, due to a good upbringing, and the fact that my formative years were spent in a very different California than the one we see today.

Give more prominent profile to Communist Party USA, Socialist Party USA, International Green Party, Workers World Party, and Socialist Workers Party and California just might go Republican (it is already Red/Pinko because of the schools system which until a recent change in law by Democrats explicitly prohibited teaching by Communists in the State and prohibited seditious instruction).
