Why is Medical Marijuana Not Legal In Every State?
Resistance Feed ^ | 12-16-2016 | Rhett October

When my mother struggled with cancer, her appetite dropped to nothing. In my state, medical marijuana is legal, so the doctor prescribed it to help her appetite.

To say it worked would be an understatement. Within a couple of days she was eating normal amounts and felt hunger for the first time in a week. With the drug, she was able to maintain her weight and strength.

She stayed with me during her treatment but went home to dad some as well. On one of her trips home to dad, she ran out of the medical marijuana and went to a local pharmacy to have the prescription refilled. She said the pharmacist had an odd look on his face and asked if her local doctor prescribed this for her. She explained to him that she was seeing an oncologist in my state.

The pharmacist told her that medical marijuana wasn’t legal in her state and that she’d need to go back to my state to get the prescription refilled.

What struck me as so silly about that was that there are legal forms of drugs that are much more extreme and addictive such as morphine and OxyContin which are medicinal heroin. Marijuana is not even considered to be an addictive drug and the results of using it, even recreationally, are really pretty mild compared to other drugs. So why would my mom’s state allow medical heroin but not medical marijuana?

There are conspiracy theories told by wide-eyed potheads that aren’t worth spreading, but there is one conspiracy-sounding story that seems to be reasonable.

The story says that marijuana can be made into paper more efficiently than trees. And this was discovered back in the early days of big-logging. For the owners of logging companies, this was terrible news because it meant that companies who developed paper would buy from marijuana growers instead of buying logged trees.

So the wealthy loggers went to politicians and convinced them that marijuana was a drug that was worse than alcohol and made people crazy. Therefore, growing the plant should be illegal. They might have also bribed the politicians. Either way, the story says that the logging companies convinced lawmakers to outlaw their competition.

Then there’s the theory that says it’s because of THC, the mind-altering ingredient in the marijuana plant. It’s what creates the buzz. According to some, the THC is used to expand your mind to levels of enlightenment – spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Government elites don’t want us peasants to expand our minds, or so goes the theory. I can’t say it makes sense to me.

As best I can tell, the conventional reason is that it’s a mind altering substance that is viewed as a gateway drug. And because it’s been illegal for so long, it seems like it’s chiseled in stone. But in terms of having medicinal value, I can tell you from what I witnessed with my mom, it most certainly is helpful. The United States has other drugs that are legal for medicinal uses and I think marijuana should make that list.

There are currently 28 states that have legalized medical marijuana and more will follow because it just makes sense.

That won’t last long. Big business sees billions in pot. With the added bonus it will bring full socialism to the United States.

It was my mother. And we picked it up at the pharmacy. As I said it might have been a synthetic.

Fifteen years ago or so, my nephew with AIDS, received THC in pill form to help with the side effects of the many medications he is taking.

Is THC in pill form still available? Is it less effective than marijuana on its own? I am asking because I don’t know.

“As I said it might have been a synthetic.”

You are changing your story. Synthetic marijuana is Marinol, which is LEGAL in all 50 states.

Your story just flat out DOES NOT ADD UP.

I know that there are other beneficial parts of the plant other than THC. But I don’t know if THC is still used.

It’s not like I can go look at it now. We don’t have it anymore. The oncologist called it medical marijuana and that’s how we all referred to it. I’m not a doctor. The point of the entire thing is that medicinal heroin is legal in every state but medicinal marijuana is only in 28 states.

Yes, Big Pharma, Big Gov, Big Booze, & Big Police all like the status quo, got that.

But at the personal choice level, MJ has messed up a lot of lives & there’s seven decades worth of evidence. As a neveruser but as a supervisor I saw the worst effect as being the chronic user locked into a state of permanent adolescence.

I conducted drug tests in the Army. A cocaine user is clean in less than a week from last use. A drunk is flushed out within 72 hours (alcohol isn’t illegal, only its abuse), but MJ stays in the system for at least a month since it is fat-soluble, not water-soluble like the others. That guarantees long term effects for chronic users.

Choices have consequences, just saying.

Why is Medical Marijuana Not Legal In Every State?

Because, according to the Constitution, the Feds should have no say over it, and it's up to each, individual state.

Medical marijuana isn’t the problem. It is just a front for mafia cronies to monopolize recreational marijuana. I know from my investigation in Nevada.

“The point of the entire thing is that medicinal heroin is legal in every state but medicinal marijuana is only in 28 states”

So let me get this straight - you have absolutely no clue what your mom was prescribed, but for some reason are quite sure its only allowed in 28 states?

There are only two possibilities here:

1. Your mom was using ‘natural’ marijuana, as legalized in 28 states. There is ZERO chance this would have been legal in Tennessee, and a LESS THAN ZERO chance she would have gotten it a Publix. So that would be a FALSE STATEMENT.

2. You mom was using synthetic marijuana, which is LEGAL IN ALL STATES, and your entire screed about legalization of natural marijuana is misplaced at best, and your story about getting her prescription refused in another state is a FALSE STATEMENT.

Pot does not render someone unable to contribute to society. You sound like the latest information you have on marijuana was from "Reefer Madness", put out by the government decades ago to scare people into not using it.

Pot is not debilitating unless you are already a loser and smoke it all day and veg out. It's affect on people is dramatically less than that of alcohol. You can actually function while high on pot but you can't when you are a falling down drunk.

I recently returned from a trip to Arizona, where medical pot is legal. Translation, you can get an RX from a doctor and pay your $300 for a card and then it's legal for you to buy it at dispensaries. No black market anymore. It is essentially legal because anyone can get a card. The state gets to collect revenue and taxes this way. There are doctors with signs on their doors that announce them as a "Marijuana Doctor".

I predict pot will be legal in most, if not all, states within a few years. Florida, where I live currently, just passed their medical pot law this last election.

The short answer to anything marijuana, if you can grow your own it will not ever be legal. Marijuana being a narcotic level 1 is also laughable.

The pharmacist told my mother that he could not fill it. She told me that, that day on the phone. We were able to fill it going forward in Tennessee. If you don’t believe that, that’s your business but I was there and it happened.

Not exactly

Some stats you can only get doctor prescribed THC or CBD from pharmacies given that license

Most states though have green cross pharms

Depends on State

Ok, lets say that is true...

What on earth does that have to do with the medical marijuana issue you posted about? Your mom would have been taking synthetic marijuana, which is completely different and had NOTHING to do with the medical marijuana movement.

The fact is, ANYBODY with a prescription can get the exact same medicine your mom took today - so what do you care about legalizing medical dope?
