A deal is being brokered for Senator Ted Cruz to fill a Supreme Court vacancy in exchange for a pro-Trump replacement in his Texas seat.
Source: A deal is being cut which would see Cruz nominated on the condition that a pro-Trump Republican could be found to replace him in the Senate.
Unclear whether Cruz would be immediately nominated to replace Justice Antonin Scalia.
Cruz was not on Trumps list of potential Supreme Court picks vetted by Federalist Society.
Cruz is currently publicly planning to run for re-election in 2018.
Source: Privately he's ready and willing to become a Supreme Court Justice.
Alan Dershowitz on Cruz: One of the best students I ever had.
Source: Cruz is widely praised as a legal scholar and orator, but is disliked by Senate colleagues.
(FRESNO, CA) Texas Senator Ted Cruz is set to be nominated for a position on the Supreme Court by President-elect Donald J. Trump if current trends hold, a source close to the process tells GotNews.
The source told GotNews that a deal is being cut which would see Cruz nominated to the Supreme Court on the condition that a pro-Trump Republican could be found to replace Ted Cruz in the Senate.
It is unclear whether Cruz would be immediately nominated to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, who died earlier this year, or if his nomination would come later. While Cruz was not on Trumps list of potential Supreme Court picks, he undoubtedly fits the bill as a staunch conservative constitutionalist.
Cruz, who won his Texas Senate seat in 2012, is publicly planning to run for re-election in 2018. Privately, it seems hes ready and willing to become a Supreme Court Justice.
Ted Cruz was Donald Trumps earliest ally and final foe in the Republican presidential primaries. He has steadily reconciled with Trump since the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July earlier this year.
Cruz has been described by his former law professor and world-famous lawyer Alan Dershowitz as one of the best students I ever had. Cruz is widely praised as a legal scholar and orator, despite being notoriously disliked among his Senate colleagues.
That dislike may make a Cruz confirmation very easy in the Senate.
Again with Lyn’ Ted?! How about getting us our money back and sending him to retirement, maybe in Canada. No way Lyn’ Ted gets on the UNITED STATES Supreme Court or ANY role in the Trump administration. He’s no more fit than Romney or others. Let him have some time to spend with his family, spend in the senate waiting to be primaried should he go through with running for reelection. Lyn’ Ted is a LIAR. Do we really need to keep repeating all of his lies?! He is NOT FIT to be on Supreme Court any more than he was qualified to be president. The guy is a loser in all aspects. Likely a child abuser from the way his daughter cringed from him in one of the impossible to forget video clips. Good riddance to him.
” He is smarter than Trump. “
Sure he is. He’s so smart he made himself look like 7th grade crybaby at the convention. So smart he accused Trump of being responsible for the riot in Chicago. So smart he “picked” Carly as VP before Trump crushed him in Indiana. So smart he got up on stage with Beck...
Absolutely, why give him Brutus’s knife?
If he was to get on the list, he would have to start at the back of the current list of 21. Good luck on waiting around for that.
The Dems will vote for Cruz to get him out of the Senate and as an expression of courtesy. They will soon after seek favors and concessions from Republican colleagues on that basis. Once the Dems demand too much and are denied, they will huff that the GOP has slapped away their proffered good will — and then back to the usual bitter infighting.
These are all hot button conservative issues. He did however, slip a cog (or two) during the campaign...
Cruz exposed himself as a phony & fraud with his pathway amnesty, partnering with Lyin Ryan on TPP/TPA and his sleazy tactics in the primaries.
Add his continued failure to produce a legally required CRBA to prove hes even a US citizen should deny him any future government office.
U.S. LAW:
A Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) is official evidence of United States citizenship, issued to a child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents, who meet the requirements for transmitting citizenship under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

I used to love Cruz, but then I saw him helping really bad things like TPP see the light of day. At first I thought, no, he’s just way smarter than me, he’s got a plan. But then I realized he’s simply a career politician married to a woman who authors papers on how to remove American sovereignty and create the north American union.
Just because Cruz has memorized the constitution and can use his tongue like a $20 whore, doesn’t mean he will follow it!
I guess it’s all rumors for now but you are right - Texas ought to be able to come up with a viable replacement for Cruz’s Senate seat. Despite Houston and some other places, Texas still has a lot of solid folks to choose from.
His only hope to remain relevant is the court because politically he is headed to the dust bin of history despite Jesus deeming him to be POTUS.
God, please bar the door on this idea, don’t let it come to pass. Cruz may know the constitution but does not fully respect our laws and is very selfish in motives.
I pray this is true.
I am a fan of Cruz. The primary is past. In my mind, Cruz proved himself to be a fighter. We hated it at the time, but it’s what the GOP lacks. We have so many wimps. Cruz had to be beat back with a club.
We need that kind of determination on SCOTUS.
NO.
Cruz has shown himself to be a liar.
TC's ego will always come first over any/all other considerations, including the Constitution.

Exactly. Likability is a necessity for a politician, but not for a Supreme Court justice.
Cruz would make a great Supreme Court justice. He has a sense of destiny about saving the United States, and as an Originalist on the Supreme Court, he could fulfill that destiny very well.
A lot of people are hung up on some intemperate words spoken during the heat of a hard fought political campaign.
Donald Trump spoke many as well.
Cruz has been an articulate Constitutional originalist his entire life.
Houston has all kinds of conservatives. A lesbian mayor doesn’t change that.
I thought so, myself, at first.
I bought his “sales pitch” too.
Then a friend who actually lives down there warned me, by sending me a comparison w/Obama, and there were WAY too many similarities.
Cruz is a bizarre globalist. No on Cruz.
Cruz probably by this times sees the lack of future in politics.
I’d love to see Ted on the SCOTUS. Not hard to find a good Texan to replace him.
