The policy will be viewed as punitive and cruel and noncompliance will be widespread. It is incredibly foolish and unkind.
The U.S. Department of Homewrecking and Utopian Development (HUD) said it plans to forbid smoking in public housing units to protect millions of low-income tenants from the ridiculously over-hyped effects of secondhand tobacco smoke.
The ban will affect more than 940,000 units of housing subsidized by federal taxpayers.
Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, healthy home free from harmful second-hand cigarette smoke, head HUD honcho Julián Castro said in a statement.
Holy Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick!
They are poor, let them have a ciggie!
If the dirtbags cant smoke, they can afford to pay full rental price.
Hmm maybe if they didn’t waste all that money on cigs, they wouldn’t need so much welfare from taxpayers. Get your own house and smoke as much as you want...
how are they poor if they can pay $160 month for cigarettes.
They bum them
they should be arrested for bumhandling.
I'd be willing to bet 90% and upward of folks in public housing aren't even "responsible" towards their own children. As for the pets... lots are just abused, starved dogs used for BS macho intimidation and fighting.
On January 19'th the Feds will "discover" that the money for Food stamps is all used up.
Soda is number one purchase for ebt
LOL!
Seriously, Obama is doing this on the way out the door because it wont go into effect until Trump takes office, that way the brothers will think Trump did it.
Obama has been enabling bad behavior from this crowd since he has taken office.
Agreed
But allowed in White Hut.
Yep and I have seen them buying their crap like soda, chips etc. Now they can buy prepared food like buffalo wings, and fried chicken too.
This went in effect in San Antonio TX in January 2012. Julian was mayor there. I think that most public housing in TX went smoke free by 2015.
He’s in quick sand and sinking fast. I love it!
And just WHO is gonna go into public housing to take the cigarettes and weed away from LaSchwanda and Demontrious? Unarmed??
Military families get a housing allowance that keeps rents higher than they would be if the full amount was paid by the renter. I am not calling this a good thing or a bad thing, but does this mean these military subsidized housing must be smoke free also?
Lets try a house plant for the first year and go from there on the pet thing
