Krauthammer’s Take: Democrats Defying Trump on Sanctuary Cities Is a ‘Mistaken Bet’ by NR STAFF November 16, 2016

Charles Krauthammer identified the issue of sanctuary cities as a scandal, even before Donald Trump took issue with them, and he said that Democrats would be foolish to defy federal authority to defend them: Sanctuary cities were a scandal before Trump. It’s in defiance of federal authority. Federal authority is legitimate. The people who did this in the past were the racists in the south who defied federal authority on civil rights, so now it’s in the name of something that appears to be humanitarian. It’s something that should not be allowed.

The Democrats have tolerated it, and I think Trump would be within his rights to withhold funds, and he should. And the Democrats are making a big bet, and a mistaken one, if they decide they’re going to defy the federal government and what seems to be common sense: Control your borders.

Donald, please, please, please withhold every red cent of funding from each and every “Sanctuary City” and use the money to roll tanks into the heart of every such city with orders to root out all of the “illegals”. Eisenhower had his operation “Wetback”, Trump can do the same.

I know, it’s like knee-jerk response. But Kraut was like, “it’s common sense, control your borders”. No sh*t Sherlock, what do you think we’ve been saying for the past two decades!!!

I don’t get it. K’s comments are totally in favor of Trump. What are you all going on about?

It's a cult of anti personality thing.

You take a guy many of us don't like, for example Krauthammer.

You can have him talk about the most important issue of our time and you could have him communicate the best position on that issue, it still won't matter.

People would not comment on that issue nor that position. Instead they would simply state that they don't like the guy.

Trump is about to take on The Borg here on earth, which are the Democrats and illegal immigration. He needs his common sense position and our common sense position on illegal immigration repeated as much as possible, no matter who repeats it, no matter how late to the party they are, to win this battle.

Your no sh*t Sherlock comment suggests the opposite.

Believe me, it’s music to my ears. It’s just like he said like how could that not be obvious, it’s just so ironic. Ugh. But no you’re right, we’ll take any and all support we can get.

Once we get a handle on illegal voting, this will be much less of an issue.

Dem mayors DEPEND on that illegal vote to stay in office, the illegals push them over the top, therefore they are their constituency.

Go to some sort of federal voting ID law, and watch these mayors discard the illegals in quick fashion. When it is only American citizens who can vote, you will see a major change in pandering. I look forward to a day when politicians begin pandering to Americans first.

We can make a very quick judgment on this when we look at where these mayors are from..Chicago, New York, Seattle, and a couple of cities in California. They need the votes of those in the sanctuary cities to hold their power. They have to import votes from other countries to win elections. The Chicago mayor, Immanuel, is the one which makes your brain go numb. His city is ridden with a murder rate bigger than our war casualties. These people do so much damage to humanity in their short time on this earth. Go figure.

“I think Trump would be within his rights to withhold funds...”

Gregg Jarrett on Fox is a lawyer and he showed Federal law that states harboring illegal aliens is a felony with a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

So what’s with this “withhold funds” crap? Arrest the mayors and traipse them off to be tried in Federal court, and then to the hoosegow. They’re blatant scofflaws and need to be locked up.

Listen, Krauthammer talks a good game. He will sound reasonable, conservative and trust worthy.

He will slowly, patiently lure you in.

Then just when you are starting to like him, he spits in your eye.

Re Arizona/Federal supremacy. You beat me to it.

I don’t think it would take long for a test case to arise.

The problem I foresee is that the case might yield a result like, “Yes, the Federal government is supreme in immigration matters, but it has no right to cut off funds, because these are unlinked matters.” In other words, Congress would have to pass some law linking the carrot and the stick, and then that would come under some constitutional challenge. I don’t know on what grounds, but I’d guess the left could find some.

Charles Krauthammer identified the issue of sanctuary cities as a scandal, even before Donald Trump took issue with them

NR wants us to know that even though they beclowned themselves with their anti-Trump tirades, one of their geniuses identified sanctuary cities as a scandal before Trump even mentioned them. That's their claim anyway.

So even a casual observer must infer that the doltish Trump must have stolen the idea from aforementioned genius.

They couldn’t do that, because then states could allow all drugs to be legal etc.

This means a lot of fruit and vegetable pickers will disappear. There should be a list of Mexicans who are in Mexico who are willing to be temporary workers. Withhold the bulk of their pay until they reach the border on their way back.

No SS. Piecework taxed at 10%.-No income tax filing. The money goes a lot farther in Mexico.

Any police record obtained would disqualify the worker entry work for life.

E-verify and cheater land owners should be held responsible with minimum 2 years in jail and fined the amount equal to what was paid to illegals. If the owner is too feeble, a land heir doing the time is a possibility.

Repeat offender’s land goes to auction attended only by land owners in the general area.
